True, BUT I am talking about the undisputed Championship. Both these brothers fought for the Championship within 3 weeks of each other. But that was good!
The question is just when they got the title shot, within 3 weeks? They didn't need to have won? :think
Juan Manuel Marquez became IBF featherweight champion on February 1, 2003 with a TKO of Michael Medina (*this was not his first ever title shot, however - he had lost a bid for Freddie Norwood's WBA belt a few years earlier). Rafael Marquez became the IBF bantamweight champion on February 15, 2003 with TKO of Tim Austin (this was his first title shot). * Damn...close, anyway. It was their first IBF shot each. :yep
Mike Twin Sullivan won the World Welterweigh Title from Honey Melody on 23rd April 1907. Jack Twin Sullivan drew with Hugo Kelly for the World Middleweight Title on 5th May 1907. That's less than a fortnight apart.
Great question, of which I know the answer, but don't want to spoil it this early as it's such a pearler.
No to all above. Hint: They had the same mother BUT different fathers, so they had different last names, so actually there step-brothers. I was asked this question a while back and I knew the answer because one of them was one of my favorite fighters.
The hint that they were half brothers, and that one of them was one of your favourite fighters, made me think of Marvin Hagler and Robbie Simms - but the timing isn't right. Rodrigo Valdez and Alfredo Pitalua don't fit the 3-week time limit either. You say, they fought for undisputed titles... so I take it, we have to go back in time before all this WBC/WBA/WBO/IBF nonsense?
