Disappointing. But I pick Browne to upset Parker. I hope Ryabinsky finds someone good in Browne's place for Kuzmin's next fight. There's still time for it, at least. Parker/Browne fight is set for January in Australia.

It is very likely that in January in New Zealand or Australia there will be a fight between world heavyweight WBO heavyweight champion Josepherm Parker (24-0, 18 KO) and Lucas Brown (25-0, 22 KO), "said Bob Arum, one of the Parker promoters.

Browne confirms that he is in talks with representatives of the World Boxing Organization. Up until recently, it seemed that Browne in November was poisoning Sergiej Kuzmin at a gala in Russia, but on a proposal from Parker, the talks were broken.

For 25-year-old Parker will be the third defence of the championship belt won in December last year. The New Zealander fought in September, winning the points with Hugh Fury.

I'm a fan of Parker, but also disappointed that Kuzmin vs Browne is off.

@ipswich express is Browne's manager, I wonder if he has any further info for us?

I doubt it. What does Browne do better than Parker?

i never thought that fight would come off. kuzmin is very talented but has no Name value on world stage. Browne isnt talented but he is well known. kuzmin would have kicked that Bodybuilders ass imo.

50/50 fight imo with a slight edge if anything to Parker, who as the decent fighter he is, he's still very flawed and Browne is the puncher in this fight.

    Could be an upset.

I'm surprised Browne has the level of support he has in the poll. Yeah Browne can certainly bang but Parker has shown he has a big heart and a solid chin. I know the Takam, Ruiz and Fury fights were all close but let's be honest all of those guys are well ahead of Browne in terms of actual boxing ability. Takam applies relentless, educated pressure, Ruiz has surprising hand speed and throws good combinations and Fury has an ugly defensive style that would make any HW on the planet look bad.

Chagaev found Browne fairly easy to hit; Parker will too. Parker by late stoppage.

Why is everyone trashing this fight? It sounds like an excellent and exciting matchup to me.

I think it'll prove to be a mismatch on the night, but Browne seems to have got a bit of support recently while Parker is everyone's favourite whipping boy. Plus, if anything Browne has it's crazy power so there's the slight possibility of an upset.

Get on board with this. It's going to be fun.

Good post. Personally I think it's because Parker's performances of late have left a little to be desired, and some boxing fans (like most sports fans TBH) can be incredibly fickle so he has a fair few detractors already. I've been a critic of him myself but that's really because he hasn't kicked on much under Kevin Barry. On the whole I think the level of opposition for three of his last six fights have been shown a gradual step up and undefeated former champion in Browne will be another decent name for his resume. Certainly far better than the Japanese guy that was being mooted.

I fully expect Parker to win, but both guys are easy to hit, one has power, the other has speedy combinations so this will be a good fight while it lasts. If Parker wants to make a bit of money in a trans-Tasman PPV bust up while he waits for a call from Eddeh then I'm certainly not gonna begrudge him that.

lol... browne running from another big fight... I never seen someone run from big fights as much as this guy especially given his age he doesn't have time on his side... I doubt he fights parker also... just doesn't seem to want to fight top level guys

I understand why people might be down on Parker at the moment, but I do recall him getting a fair bit of stick prior to the Takam fight. Really weird criticisms as well, like he wasn't athletic, or lacked speed and things like that. Seems Parker's just one of those guys who'll always be disliked for some reason, which isn't a problem so long as he keeps winning.

I'm disappointed in his development under Barry as well, but he's gutted out three quality wins now, and that has to count massively in his favour over blowouts of overmatched opponents.
