Looks like a case of Browne being Solo's best option. But Solo not being Browne's best option. Solo can either wait til Browne loses one or get on with his career. At his age the latter option makes more sense.

At this stage almost anyone is Haumono's best choice simply to bring him into activity. Haumono needs to fight in Australia and generate some call for a Browne fight.

Browne should enter that 200k 8 man tournament that's taking place over in NZL, I think he would have a very good chance of winning.... Plus beating some names, albeit shot and faded guys would sort of put HIS name out there. Being guys like Peter, Rahman etc would be good for him, not sure he could beat Sam depending on how much he has left, but at this point he'd beat Rahman no problem....

  5. It looks like the Browne Haumono thing is more a battle of overinflated management egos than a desire for the two to actually fight each other.

Stuart I know you are professional and have achieved lots of good things in your career and that's why I can't understand why you have dropped your lollies over this one. Now your leaving out some serious facts so let me help you a bit...

    1. After Lucas won the Aussie title his managers turned down the Soloman fight because the offer was a very short $3000. Considering Lucas was Australian champion and undefeated that offer is not even close to the heavyweight title purse for an undefeated heavyweight champion.

    2. Moving along to the second fight Hatton promotions and Amatruda couldn't agree on promotional terms and TV.

Now you say Brownes management are doing the wrong thing but surely you understand that when a fighter is signed to a promoter the promoter has the exclusive rights to match the fighters bouts and that job is no longer the managers? Right?

You continue to paint the picture of a weak Hatton promotions with no TV and stuff but you don't touch on the fact they have got Lucas 5 fights last year and rated WBA, WBC and IBF top 15? To me that's a strong promoter moving their fighter forward. In addition to this Tyson Fury, Wilder and Chizora are all calling out Lucas.

Anyway crunch I don't mind if you take your bat and ball and go home as your obviously bias and blind to the facts so I'm not interested conversing with you any longer.

That is the figure I heard and it was crazy.

And what exactly has Haumono done to warrant a challenge for any title?

Solomon Haumono is the OPBF Champ and Lucas Browne is the Commonwealth. Both affiliated with the WBC. Hatton promotions are doing a great job with Lucas and Lucas himself is doing even better. We have put the challenge forward and with 6weeks notice we will fight here or UK it wont matter. There would be easier fights out their for Sol and easier ways to climb the ladder so to speak but surely the rules of engagement are to clean up your own backyard first and move forward. Sol was rated WBC 16 this time last year, lost a fight and won a fight in November KO3 and is currently around WBC 33. I don't give too hoots what Box Rec say, they are not the sanctioning body rating. Sol officially does not have a manager or promoter which makes it extremely hard to either converse with major promoters or ratings committees. It is something we are working on. Sol is training and is extremely frustrated bouts are not coming his way or a promoter is not putting on a defense of his belt or he has no challenges to that belt. We were hoping for Brian Minto in the USA but unfortunately it didn't happen. Simply we have a number of good heavyweights, great matchmakers, managers and promoters in Australia and NZ and we should not ever take swipes at the ones who make it all happen for the boxers through their career. Of course their are a very few who don't have the boxers best interest at heart but they are soon found and the fighter moves on. We wish Lucas Browne and every Australian and NZ boxer the best no matter what. regards Dino Billinghurst

    Dino,
I share to some extent your old school view that a fighter should clean up his own backyard first and then move forward. But that is simply not the way things work any more. National titles mean little any more and until recent times Commonwealth titles had gone off the radar of Aussie fighters as well. Who could blame Browne for pursuing overseas interests ahead of fighting Solo, when the money is multiple times better and the wins do more for his ranking?

    Hi Dino,

Couple of question - hope you can shed some light.

I am confused about waiting for Browne at this time - has Browne's camp given any indication how he soon he could get a prep done whilst that eye is healing?

We are told also that Sol has carrying a long term injury so how is that?

I am shocked that Sol have neither a promoter nor manager at this point of the game - progress wold be extremely hard. Surely though his trainer should have contacts sufficient enough to get him local events?

Did Sol put his hat in for the HW tournaments? They were tailor made to get Sol valuable experience and his boxing career exposure IMO.

History and some information shows that Browne probably made the right decision. If the info is correct and Sol was carrying a long term injury than Browne may have wasted fruitless months on a postponed local fight instead of going OS.

    Just a quick response guys:
1/ Sol has NO injury and trains the house down except last week where his knee come into contact with a chainsaw but he's sweet.
2/ Sol may not have an official manager but great guys like Stu Duncan, Angelo Di Carlo etc get him fights on shows such as japan and melbourne on Brians cards.
3/ Yes we did hold out hope after Sols fight with marcel luis nasimento to fight Browne for the commonwealth belt in April
4/ Sol was waiting for an answer back from Minto but Joseph Parker got the nod.
5/ Sol has won the NSW, Aust and OPBF titles. Really no point at this time to fight anyone from Oz unless they are rated above him i.e.: Demori, Browne etc
Hopefully a fight will be found soon to continue his march forward

    Appreciate the support
