I remember the hype that fight got in the LA area, back when I was 13 years old. I looked it up just now and it had an impressive undercard as well, with Marvin Hagler, Roger Stafford, Oscar Muniz and Tex Cobb fighting.
As I recall, the bout between Bruce Curry and Monroe Brooks was shown on one of the major networks. It was an absolutely sensational bout, one of the best to take place at the Olympic Auditorium during the 1970s. - Chuck Johnston
