No, what happened is Seldon punked out badly.

It's one of the worst flop jobs I've seen, possibly the worst. Certainly the worst in a title fight, BY FAR.

I don't have the words to describe how atrociously Seldon punked out. And it's all the more atrocious because some people, such as yourself, seemed to accept his con, or are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt where there is none.

    Even worse were the commentators
    'Down goes Bruce Seldon'
'It was a punch high on the head'

    :-(

When u think of how someone like Jim Braddock was damn near killed before finally being KOed (legitimately I might add) by Joe Louis in a losing effort to keep his title, it makes this fight all the more disgraceful. Seldon was looking for a soft spot to fall against Tyson and couldn't even fake it well. He was all too willing to lay down for Mike and go home. Fights such as this didn't prepare Tyson for someone like Holyfield who wasn't intimidated by anyone and would go punch for punch with Tyson, not fold like an old lawn chair.

I fully agree, mate. That fall was so shameful and ridiculous that after the Tyson fight no one else could take him seriously.... :good

Seldon almost KO'd Oliver McCall. Its true, watch round nine of the fight is you dare...

In the early 1990's Ring Magazine had an article on the up and coming heavies.

    They saw them:

    1. Bowe
    2. Seldon
    3. Morrison
    4. Lewis
    5. Mercer

Of course this article was written before Seldon had his chin and heart checked in the ring.

Seldon was a great athlete, decent skills but no durability. I don't think the Tyson fight was a dive I think the punch got him behind the ear which lost his equilibrium

    The punch missed.
I'm not sure how anyone could say (or see) otherwise.

The punch may have only made partial contact but what about the following elbow? A partial contact behind the ear can put you out.

Watch this KO that looks pretty much the same sort of unclean behind the ear punch. Hobson the loser here arguably won the first match on points but was on ***** street.

Yes. I remember McCall just took his heart in that fight. Seldon had a nice jab and some pretty quick hands but he definitely was lacking in other areas.

Great jab. Natural athlete but folded when opponent fought back and basically sh*t his pants against Tyson.

GOTCHA! Good point. They refuse to see reality...The truth is: the punch didn't connect. The vĂdeo is cristal clear.
