Sorry, but you know you are gonna see a lot of Morrison threads today. Anyway, I know I've done this one before but it's been a while. Let's discuss it. Who wins? You pick the when.

Maybe Seldon defends his WBA HW title vs. Morrison in 1995 instead of Joe Hipp? In 1995, Seldon had stopped Tony Tucker for the vacant title and Morrison had stopped Razor Ruddock.

As for Joe Hipp? Morrison beat Hipp in '92 when Hipp was decent. Hipp had no business fighting for the WBA belt in '95. Morrison stopped Hipp in the 9th but Morrison suffered a broken hand and jaw in the fight. Seldon stopped Hipp in the 10th basically with his jab.

A prime Seldon is 6'1" with a 77" reach and solid at 230-235 Lbs. He has a good jab, decent hand speed, decent footwork, good strength, decent power, and a shaky chin.

A prime Morrison is 6'2" with a 76" reach and solid at 225-230 Lbs. He has awesome power (especially in the left hook), good speed, decent footwork, good strength, a shaky but better chin than Seldon IMO.

Seldon has the better jab, Morrison punches harder and has a slightly better chin IMO. Both have quick hands but Morrison was the quicker starter and was more likely to let his hands go than Seldon. Seldon used his footwork better. Both are physically strong, Seldon more so but he could be bullied easier than Morrison.

    I'll take Morrison by KO.

Morrison would have destroyed Seldon. Probably inside of a round.

Sometimes I think Bruce Seldon had it all with the exception of a good chin, and maybe questionable heart (that is hard to define, and I hate to question that on anyone that steps through the ropes. He had a great jab, good speed, and a great look. I think his chin would fail him again in this sort of fight. If Seldon didn't get steamrolled really early, I could see him tagging Morrison, but I think Morrison would still take him out early.

No matter how long it lasts, I just see Morrison exposing that china chin at some point. Neither had the greatest chins, but I think Morrison had the better chin and more importantly, the greater power, which would be sufficient to take him out.

Morrison by KO. Seldon was a great coward...

    And I make it 15 and 0...

Tommy punched harder, had the better chin and showed a lot more heart.

No, anyone who steps in the ring and becomes a contender, deserves a certain amount of respect. And to face some of the finest Heavyweights of the 1990's shows Seldon was many things, some of which was disappointing, but he was not a 'great coward'.

I think Morrison would win, but Seldon has to be the most underrated heavyweight on the boxing forums.

I already placed my thoughts and votes for Morrison over Seldon. The only scenario I see Seldon winning is something like what Michael Bentt did -- Morrison having zero respect and just getting caught flush -- but I'm not sure Seldon had that kind of punch or could even have withstood the initial attack that Morrison had on Bentt.

For his fantastic physique and athleticism (I know in one article it showed him dunking a basketball), Seldon was really a pure boxer, and I don't seem to recall him having a huge punch. To win, I think he can't get hit, and that's just not going to happen for a guy that went down to Jose Ribalta.

I could definitely appreciate this sentiment. He had one of the best jabs I've seen thrown by a heavyweight in that era. He just didn't have great defense and for someone with a suspect chin, that didn't bode well for him against the elites of his time.

    Seldon was a pretender.

At his best Seldon had a great jab- fast hands, but his best punch was his jab. If he could get that working, he could win this fight. At the same time, Morrison, at his best, was pretty good at avoiding the jab, and then throwing his hook.
I don't think that either of them was a particularly good fighter, though they both had their strong points. Neither of them was strong mentally. I'm pretty sure Tommy would win; he was the better overall fighter, had the punch to dissuade Seldon, and I think he would take more from Seldon than Seldon would take from him.

I don't think he could even replicate what an old version of The Truth did to Morrison. Tommy had issues with good jabbers, but Seldon doesn't look nowhere near impressive enough in any of his wins to give me any proof that he'd do fine here. Probably in the span of 3 if Bruce gets lucky.
