Feels sore, hard to sleep, and can't laugh. Breathing is fine.

How long do you think I should leave it before going back to light training (not sparring)?

Doesn't feel too too bad, but coughing really strains it. I pushed too hard and thats what caused this...will need to rest all weekend for starters.

I wasn't boxing yet but I broke 2 of my ribs while working construction. Don't try to rush it if when you stretch it really hurts need more time and I would sugest that even after it feels good again take it easy for a few weeks while training. sry can't give you a good time set but iv seen people recover at difrent speeds

I don't think they're bruised or broken. I've seen people with worse, and this isn't that bad. This happened on wednesday, and only issue is how I sleep, rolling out of bed, sneezing/coughing, and laughing hard.

I got hit in sparring once, and i wouldn't say it was too bad, but it did bother me for about 5 weeks. Takes a while to heal. Sucks.

Like others have said, injured ribs take their own sweet time to heal. I broke a couple many years ago and it took about three months before I could get back into any contact sport. I'd say, off the bat, you're looking at about a month or so to be safe if they are only bruised. Could be you tore some of the connective tissue between them too, and that will take time.

you can'tt work outt during this time. you absolutely need to rest. it took me about three weeks recovery time before i stepped back in the gym. even if it feels better, you still ahve to let it heal.

Damn...this was totally preventable...and its gonna set me back.

I'll try to see a doctor. Maybe put my membership on hold again.

There's no way this is fractured or broken ribs, though.

the right side of my ribs goes inwards and the last rib points outwards if i sit a certain way and bend my obliques a certain way :| if its not like that then no its not a fractured or broken rib

Three days have passed, and it seems to be improving steadily. I can't really cough hard, but the pain has lessened and lessened.

    I am optimistic.

If this ever heals, I will change my training in a big way.

Some guys seem to heal faster than others. Don't expect any particular period of convalescence. The time to start serious training in usually when you can move, twist and stretch your body without pain.
