What if frank had gone to the states after the Bonecrusher Smith fight? .He was still very young for a HW would training and sparing in the US under a well know trainer make him more fluid and relaxed ? Would he have been a better fighter ? What do you guys think ?

I don`t think Bruno understood the fundamentals in boxing, I don`t think he would have listened to a good trainer, I don`t think he was a good listener, he didn`t have natural speed either, I do feel he would have been a lot better if he had of trained with a trainer like McCraken who has steered AJ so well, he is a far more skilled and savvy fighter than Frank was.

Why would you assume Bruno wouldn’t listen to a good trainer? He had one anyway in Lawless.
Never understood the fundamentals? Bruno’s fundamentals were ok.
I think Bruno probably did as well as he possibly could have.
He was a dedicated fighter who gave of his best who just fell short at the very top level.

He should have studied tape of all his losses and made adjustments.

He would've done well with Manny Steward, but that goes for many.

I suspect that he would always have come up against his natural limitations.

I don't know that there's anything inherently British about standing slack-jawed with your hands down after being hurt by a shot. Not sure American trainers have the magic pill for that.

He spent a lot of time in the US sparring early in his career, and before he turned pro even. He sparred with a 15 year old Tyson many times.

I don't know if he'd of been able to execute explosive bob and weaves with all the slow twitch weight training he did. I know Manny Steward wanted to work with him though, so he said in a Boxing News interview after he took on Andries.

Weight training isn't slow twitch. Fast twitch Vs slow twitch is more about force production (which has a trade off with endurance)

Explosiveness and speed is more neural than muscle fiber types.

It's slow twitch when you train like Bruno did, sets of 50 reps short of failure with no free weights, locked into a machine. That's recruiting purely slow twitch fibres.

Steward worked a minor miracle with ironman Dennis Andries. But would Bruno being effective without the muscles ? As he biggest asset in the ring was his strength and power.
