In response to the thread about Bruno taking the place of Norton and asking how he would fare, how would Bruno have done v these fighters:
    Jose Luis Garcia (1970)
    Ali `73
    Foreman `74
    Ali `76
    Holmes `78
    Shavers `79
    Cooney `81
If Bruno had been born the same year as Norton.

No. He would've lost to Norton as well.

He has a good shot stopping shavers and Cooney. And of course he would not lose against garcía.
Edited: when i mentioned cooney i meant prime vs prime.

I would give him a decent shot against all these men prime for prime but not at the time frame mentioned in the OP. For example, Bruno would be retired at the age Norton fought Cooney and Shavers.

the attrition factor does him in by the time of the Shavers and Cooney fights.

The Bruno camp would have a major rebuilding project on their hands after a Foreman match. Actually there is a strong possibility he gets ruined.

Then the 2 long Ali bouts aren't doing him any good. Especially a 15 rounder in 75, where it'd be a long sustained beating once Frank's gastank was low. Same outcome in a Holmes bout---a bad licking after the 10th round.

So he gets by a Garcia and that's all. And Bruno would have lost to Jimmy Young, if he was wearing those same shoes as Norton.

adding up a devastating loss to Foreman/2 Ali schoolings/Holmes licking/Young being taken to school---lots of damage there. Worse than the Tyson/Smith/Lewis/Witherspoon defeats. Bigger problem is then that is when Frank has to take on Shavers and Cooney .

So the timeframe is just horrible for a guy like Bruno to have slipped some and showing deterioration having to face 2 big hitters.

Let's see, imo as it goes, Bruno v..
Garcia. Frank stops him in 6.
Ali 73. Muhammed stops Bruno in 10.
Foreman. George kos him in 4.
Ali 76.Muhammad stops Frank in 11.
Holmes. Larry stops him in 8
Shavers. Bruno has Shavers hurt early but gets stopped in the 7 th
Cooney 81. Frank has a good chance if he's confident and hurts him early. Longer it goes, more risky for him.

There'd be hammering and lots of it but George Foreman may be the one being hammered.

That’s really the crux of the whole issue. And I don’t know if he beats Jose Garcia with only 16 fights either. Bruno nearly lost to Floyd Cummings with about that many bouts

By Frank Bruno?? I doubt that seriously.

I’m trying to think of a semi-decent fighter he beat let alone knocked out. He had moments in a few big fights until his flaws (namely endurance and chin) saw him succumb every time. 74 Foreman is probably more powerful than anyone Bruno met and with an ultra aggressive mindset and huge self confidence.

Foreman stops Bruno in 3-5. No shame in that either.
