Kelly is the home town boy and I'm not happy with this fight, but it was getting to the point where his manager was about to let him wait for AA to become available. Winky claimed he was willing to let Kelly have the lions share in the press, but when it came time to negotiate, it turns out the 'lion's share' was less than his 'elephant's share'. But we have been over this. Just not many options for the money that was available to put the fight on. HBO holds the damned purse stings, like it or not.

You fail to realize that Pavlik's fight is a tune up, while JC is trying to retire and cement his legacy. After fighting another geezer the only thing JC will cement is his ducking ability. No way is he an ATG without beating someone like Pavlik.

BTW Pasadena is part of LA- an objective media outlet , unlike anything from ICeland

Not even a tune up. It is a stay busy fight until AA is available. I just rewatched Lorenzo/Marquez. Since Marquez will be fighting in Germany and doesn't have KO power this fight is a forgone conclusion. However, he simply had a superior gaim plan and outsmarted, outgutted Lorenzo. I think this COULD be an interesting fight. Marquez is veteran enough to know what he has to avoid, but can he rack up points in Germany? I doubt it.

Who would Kelly be fighting if the man who spent 7 months calling him out was actually willing to fight?

LOL at the people trying so desperately to criticise Calzaghe while defending a fight between Pavlik and Williams. Dickheads.

truer words have hardly ever been written. i will compliment calzaghe on one thing. No, not his boxing ability but his brain power. He knows that fighting pavlik is not a good move for him. fighting jones is good, lucrative and safe. so at least his brain is functioning properly.

Jr Middleweight was not always around and fighters in the past have fought at Welter, then Middle, and even Light Heavy.
