Drumond and Saenz are a lesson in contrast; one resembling a body builder and the other a gourd. :rofl

 

Round 1

Drumond is coming forward with a left jab. Sanez is shuffling back as quickly as he can. Drumond is landing the jab at will. Saenz can't keep away. Drumond opens up with some power. Hooks, uppercuts. Saenz getting worked. OVER

 

That was about a minute faster than Alexeev stopped Saenz almost five years ago...but Alexeev managed to score three knockdowns in his TKO1.

 

Miguel keeps apologizing for & trying to explain away the lack of professional gloss on the product here tonight. It's bumming me out quite severely.

We get it, bro. The arrangements with local TV and the promoters for BoxingChannel to pick up the feed were made at the last minute, and there was no English commentary set up, and it's free boxing on a Thursday night. We get it. We're happy. Keep on keepin' on. :good

 

I was about to remark that Alex had been out of the ring since losing to Lebedev and probably retired - but apparently he has two wins since then and is competing for a minor WBC title later this month. :shock:

 

Drumond let his hands go more in a couple of minutes against Saenz than he did in nine against Solis. :-(

I'm usually loathe to accuse anyone of taking a dive or to condone people even suggesting it - but honestly Drumond showed zero effort against Solis, and clearly from tonight he has no problems pulling the trigger when in with someone else.

 

Yonfrez Parejo vs. Cristian Flores, 6 rounds @ bantamweight

(Miguel doesn't know, even though it says Parejo's name on the back of his trunks...does he not know about Boxrec?)

 

Round 1

Flores comes forward working fervently at the body with far-reaching hooks while leaning forward. Parejo moves and counters fluidly. Flores keeps reaching and tapping the body now and then, and Parejo maintains distance well enough to get his own taps to the head with jabs and sandbag rights on the back foot.

Round 2

Flores is diving in and working the body. Parejo is throwing wide hooks on the back foot now, not connecting and failing to keep Flores out as much. Body shots land for Flores. Parejo backs him off with a right hand. Flores ducks underneath and wedges up against his chest. Push off. Flores swings in with heavy overhands, just missing as Parejo tilts his head and pushes his arms out. Parejo ducks and hooks on the rise as Flores comes forward. Lazy hook to the body and then a sudden vicious right up top by Flores, trying to fool Parejo with pace changes. Parejo is walked back to the ropes and taking lots of body shots, answering back with very little.

Round 3

Parejo is ducking and catching wide shots on the back of his gloves, held up by his ears. On the rise-up he is throwing counter hooks and catching Flores square. They lean together and work the body with short wrist-flick smacks. Low blow by Parejo during an exchange of body shots, and he is warned. Flores holds his left stiffly out into Parejo's throat and hacks with a right hand. Parejo hooks and turns Flores. More rights by Flores, chopping away as Parejo circles him in close while ducking and rising. Hook and right hand by Parejo.

Round 4

Flores is coming forward throwing spirited clusters of punches, slashing with his left in a motion too rigid to be called a hook and throwing rights that can't by rights be called "straight", but he's gaining ground and landing a bit on Parejo. Flores is enjoying basically unhindered aggression, only halted when Parejo leans in and ties up. Parejo tries to work some counters finally as he's backed up to the ropes, throwing a quick peppering flurry of hooks and uppercuts. NICE long left hook lands for Parejo while taking a big step back. Flores ducks a right hand and whirls his upper body around as Parejo keeps punching, picking off a few shots on his gloves.
