    Round 5

Benavides swings out with big wrecking balls to the body. Vazquez bounces off the ropes a bit, spraying shots back until hurrying past to twirl Benavides to the ropes in a bullfighter move. Jabs and uppercuts from Vazquez on the outside. Benavides leaps up from bent knees with a left hand. Benavides walks onto Vazquez's jab. Vazquez throws a jab/uppercut combo at short range as Benavides reaches up and misses wide shots hailing in from above and to the sides. Vazquez is bleeding in a spot that could affect his vision, but he's still jabbing and cruising through the round in firm control with spots of flurrying.

    50-45 Vazquez

Benavides is eating a lot of leather, but he keeps pressing forward pressuring Vazquez.

    Round 6

Vazquez backs up and keeps his jab held out long. Benavides pounds his way in with the southpaw 1-2 trained on Vazquez's body but not finding its way home. Vazquez is waving his jab out as a half-hearted deterrent and landing a couple of his long right uppercuts to the body from outside, but this is a down round in terms of activity for him. Benavides is still diving in with both fists wrapped around his skull for protection and then spreading them out to soar up at Vazquez's face once inside. Vazquez buys his way off the ropes with an uppercut, then clinches as Benavides starts curling shots underneath to the body.

Benavides' best round, but 60-54 Vazquez

Benavides seemed to be slowing down a bit. while Vazquez is keeping his cool, potshotting nicely. Those straight right hands were nice.

Mid-RBR crashes make me cranky. No laughing matter.

I mean, it's a ****ing Thursday. Nobody on this card is very well known internationally, and not one of them has even a slight connection to Pacquiao or Mayweather (or anybody with any large nationalistic following, really - Costa Rica and Nicaragua probably have a dozen boxing fans between them).

What the ****ing **** gives? :?

    Round 7

Vazquez jabs and steps back. Benavides charges in, head low - and Vazquez pops up pitty-pat uppercuts into it. Benavides rakes at the space below Vazquez's ribs with candy canes. Vazquez was in a bit of trouble against the ropes, unable to squeeze off to the side or keep Benavides off his body.

    10-9 Vazquez

Vazquez tiring out a bit. Mouth is opening up, and Benavides keeps coming forward. He doesn't seem respect Vazquez' power.

    Round 8

Benavides is just diving straight into clinches now. Wild right hooks are all the offense left to Benavides as he keeps to a pattern of diving in with his head behind his fists and then flicking his arms out to grab at the last moment, then backing out with his arms shoving out high but still not preventing him from getting hit on the way. Benavides hooks furiously at the body but Vazquez is almost holding him in place with his steady jab. Vazquez flurries and moves.

    80-72 Vazquez

    Round 9

Vazquez lifts his arms to soak in the love from the crowd before the action resumes. He gets on a jab and starts to curl up into a tight ball as Benavides chops away at him, using the low-left stance with his right glove cocked up at his ear to help buffer shots to his face. Vazquez uses some quick hops to the side and some head movement to make Benavides chase and miss, but Vazquez is taking some thumps about the chest and back and even some glancing blows to the head. Benavides shoe shines the body, as Vazquez backs up behind a hook. Jabs and uppercuts from outside by Vazquez. Straight right hand, and Vazquez breaks into a fast backward tiptoe while reeling his head as far back as his neck will stretch to allow with Benavides reaching for it and falling just short. Vazquez drops both hands below his knees and pot shots Benavides from mid range.

    90-81 Vazquez

    Round 10

Vazquez backs up and wings uppercuts from the outside, turning his hips into each one as he alternately fires up with the left or right. Benavides is pressing forward, getting popped in the forward-pointing top of his head by soft jabs and rights delivered as Vazquez backs up. Benavides pressures, and Vazquez lands. Something has got to give. Vazquez can't punch and move forever without depleting his energy, and Benavides can't just keep getting hit forever and stay upright even though no one single punch seems to have him in trouble. Vazquez manages to jab and backpedal his way through another round.

    100-90 Vazquez
