I can totally understand that mentality, the thing is.... the 'smart' decision, the long term decision, is.... hes not going to be able to really position himself for another big payday (unless he plans on living off of that money from here on out, which of course he could totally do) by not fighting a few smaller pursed fights to position himself once again for a bigger fight. And by taking this time off, until his money winds down to the point where he then decides to fight again, his momentum stock wise will be severely damaged, and his form inside the ring will most likely have suffered from the time off, and, wouldn't keep developing the way he should, as a fighter (to again, make himself a name in the division and warrant higher paydays) as if he just buckled back down right now and pushed forward. Don't get me wrong, on the surface I understand the reasoning. And hell, cant say I would do any different if I was the one that has pocketed a mill and a half, not being motivated to go back down to 'small' money.... but, in theory at least, sometimes you have to look past the short term. Jennings was building a name for himself, and gaining valuable experience as a fighter, and hes going to let it dissipate when he should be honing down on his craft. If its about money, it is almost guaranteed the smarter decision would be to take the couple small money wins he would need to position himself back for a better payday. idk... just imo. Again, none of that probably matters once you actually got the cold hard cash and can afford to not fight.
Bryant is a clear case of a guy who needs to take a few stay busy fights to build himself up again but whose pride I feel would never allow him to do so. If he does get back in the ring I suspect he'll want to get right back in the mix.
He didnt even win vs Perez and got gift, wasting his prime huh ? Wlad had an off night with very negative style [as usual for him] and some people decided that Jennings did good in that fight as well, then later on Jennings changed trainer and coming off a loss decided to fight Ortiz, despite the fact that his new trainer JDJ was against this fight happening,2 losses in a row and now hes done. The guy wasnt even top 20-30 probably,Fedosov and Spilka are mediocre wins,Perez-gift as i said already and Povetkin ko`d Perez in 1 round.
Jennings completely outboxed Szpilka, Wilder struggled with Szpilka's awkwardness and a lot of people(not just detractors) such as our very own Intentionalbutt had Szpilka up at the time of the stoppage. You are transparent as hell.... Praise Wilder to no end and even defending UTTER **** like his next defense, but bashing Jennings for absolutely no reason... Wilder is only champion because of politics and timing. How he earned his mandatory was a joke and when he did win his belt it was against a guy who also won it an an unconvincing fashion that reeked of politics... Meanwhile a hard working blue collar guy like Jennings faced the who's who while a belt wasn't even at stake in most instances.... Arguably earning a resume that's at the very least on par if not superior to Wilders, certainly he's faced guys that Wilder would never dream of facing like Klitschko and Ortiz. Well if I don't have any credibility with predicting fights, then you don't have any credibility as as far as your integrity as boxing fan in concerned.... Since you refuse to condemn the shitshow that is Wilder/Wawrzyk and even defend it in a passive aggressive manner.
He outworked Perez in 8 rds, and while Perez landed the cleaner shots in many of the close rds, volume does still count for something, as does pushing the pace. As for Fedosov.....it's not a mediocre win at all. Fedo would be a top 20 right now if someone would F/N fight him already. He was supposed to fight Ortiz for 2 yrs, and GBP kept dodging him like he had the bubonic plague. Szpilka is the only fighter to push Wilder on the cards, and while his chin failed him, he still showed his worth while outboxing the windmiller.
What reason to condemn something that needs to happen? The right hand needs to be tested out for his best interests so it makes sense. Don't pretend this is unprecedented in boxing history to take a goddamn tuneup. You honestly should stfu when talking about Wilder since you picked Stiverne and Wilder beat him with ease. Barely lost a round and where was you after that fight? Hiding like a coward. Don't lie.
Jennings would probably be undefeated facing the exact opposition Wilder has faced. Kinda sad to think about it that way.
Oh right.... Because you totally apply this treatment to fighters you don't particularly like. Give me a break. How many "tuneups" does Wilder get before he faces someone that's actually a threat? It's getting old and everyone apart from his small group of fanboys are tired of it. I lost a 1 month ban bet and honored it like a man. Not a big fan of tooting by own horn, but I'm sure you can see that I won last years Kirks prediction league. So I don't think you're really in position to question my ability when it comes to predicting fights.
Stiverne's precisely the type of opponent Bryant would outwork and outhustle for the win. A Wilder fight would be damn close and competitive. I'd love to see it.
