Very poor fight for Jennings. Scott absolutely schooled and humiliated Tupou, so at best, Jennings, if he puts in a similarly dominant performance (which he won't) can say that he matched Scott's performance, albeit against a demoralised fighter coming off a loss. More likely is that Tupou puts Jennings in some trouble and Scott cements his place as the USA's #1 HW prospect, putting pressure on the Klitschkos to fight him. I hope and pray that the Klitschkos stop ducking and we see Scott vs a Klitschko in 2013.
Exactly. Jennings has been looking really good lately, and beating Tupou will mean nothing. Maybe he'll get a little experience, but it won't help his rankings, and would make him more impressive to the public. It should be an easy win. How about taking a chance and facing someone who is actually dangerous? Oh, maybe in 2 more years ..... Jump into the damn frying pan or get out of the kitchen.
I like the idea of a guy taking 10-12 fights vs cans, then fighting 5 or so journeymen, then stepping up vs other prospects and fringe contenders. Get about 20-25 fights before fighting another solidly cemented B level type guy. Seems some of these could be great fighters get fed to a champ with only 17/18 fights, and they're written off, set way back, or exposed. I'd rather see Jennings fighting the likes of Tupou than fighting a guy like Harrison or a guy like Maddalone. But hell, with only 15 fights, I wouldn't criticize him for taking either of those fights either.:think
Bowie isn't a ****ing bum. He got beat up by arguably the best boxer in the heavyweight division, big ****. He has a chance because Jennings will fight toe to toe at times. it's interesting because Bowie's a strong Tongan ****er, and if Jennings backs into a corner like he was willing to do with Collins, Liakhovich, and Byarm, I want to see if Jennings is affected any differently, even if only getting hit on the arms. and if you've ever heard an interview of Bowie, it's hard not to like him. it's hard not to cheer for both of them. win or lose for Bowie, a fight I'd like to see is him vs Seth Mitchell for his comeback fight. now that's a good fight, 2 guys that only want to battle toe to toe.
Do you think Mr King will ever let de Mori fight a live opponent? None of his other promoters seem to have either. Funny that :huh
Actually, you make a good point. - But it all comes down to how good you think Jennings is right now. Personally, wile I used to write him off as "just fast, but sloppy and not too powerful," I think he looked great in his last three fights. His power & accuracy have improved dramatically. And call me old school, but I think if a fighter is ready, he learns more by stepping up too soon, even if he loses, than by fighting guys below his level. Also, I'm so fricking frustrated by all of Wlad's recent fights, and Vitali's, and Helenius being hurt, and Boytsov pulling out twice, and Mitchell finally being exposed, and Haye walking right through Chisora because Chisora was never as good as people thought, and Arreola away on sabbatical or something ... Jeez, we really need a good HW bout.
I expect Jennings next big fight to be vs Artur Szpilka sometime next year. That fight is written in the stars, and both Peltz and Jennings favor it. As for a big one between now and then, let's be happy a prospect who transcends race, nationality, and religion is coming up and staying busy vs solid top 100 C level+ competition.:good
Jennings is the man. People talking **** about how bad HW boxing is in America and they fail to see guys like Jennings and Tor Hamer. This guy has had less than 20 fights and beat a former world champ already.
Chisora is a good fighter. He faced 3 top fighters consecutively. He faced Fury (lost) Helenius (we all know he won handily and was robbed) then he fought Vitali and gave him his hardest fight in years. While Chisora was being an actual fighter where was Haye? He was on a beach for a full year doing nothing. Who would win a race,a guy who is coming off 3 marathon's or a guy who was coming off of a vacation? Remember this,David Haye will never take a risky fight and win it. Chisora is still very young and still hasnt had many fights! Haye only fights when things are in his favor. Has Haye ever won a fight when he was an underdog? The only reason Haye wants Vitali is because Vitali is older and slower.Simple really.
