Yes we should, we're quite within our rights to complain. They're not a couple of punches too early, much of the time we've not even crossed over into a threshhold where any objective person could say one party is taking too much punishment. It's not about being brave or otherwise, we need more common sense refereeing instead of padding peoples KO records with flurries on the ropes that half the time aren't even landing.

British referee's are some of the best officials in the sport. Their opinion has to be more respected than us laymen.

It should also be noted that journeymen have a career that means they want to fight as often as possible. It is in their interests that a referee is able to recognize their distress and put a stop to it.

It is also important that a referee is able to recognize the distress signals sent out by a novice, and act appropriately. Signals that perhaps the untrained eye is unaware of.

No, the stoppages are ****ing terrible.

I don't agree with this "better too early than too late" nonsense. Refs need to learn to stop fights at the correct point.

British stoppages will steal from the fans some of the best fights. Fights that would have been great, we will not see, because they get stopped after one knockdown and a flurry to the gloves.

As a nation we may also get a reputation for corrupt officiating. It doesn't look good if foreign fighters are quickly stopped. It looks like an advantage is being given to the home fighter.

It could also be seen as unfair to the fighters if they aren't given a proper opportunity.

I was there the nights Watson and McClellan were injured. I watched on
TV as Goult died. I would rather see fights get stopped too soon, rather than too late.

This is Boxing!!! We are just as corrupt as the Germans and Americans, and nearly as bad as the Spanish and Italians. We always have been.

I agree; why should a journeyman lose out on another pay day down the line because he is still recovering after taking so much punishment in a previous fight, that he never had a chance of winning anyway?

"I would rather see Formula 1 limited to a 50 mph speed limit than risk more lethal crashes"

It would kill the sport wouldn't it?

I will point out, that actually, when fights are stopped "too late" it normally doesn't result in death. And also, people can be killed in fights where no one would have thought they needed to be stopped at any point.

Formula One is not my sport. Watching super cars parade around at 200 miles an hour does not do anything for me. Without trying to be flippant; but if the speed limit was 50 miles per hour, then maybe we would start to apreciate the skills of the drivers...

Thankfully you are right. That is why every late stoppage needs to be investigated, and safeguards are put into place to minimize the possibility of the same mistake being made.

Just because my Great Grandad lived to a 100, smoking 20 ***s a day does not disprove that you are more likely to get lung cancer smoking than not...

Late stoppages are by definition going to cause more damage to a fighter's health.

Sadly, very true. That is why investment is needed to make sure fighters are fit to box, and weight making is not causing issues come bell time.
