He was crumpled in a heap on the canvas, tired, battered and unable to continue. I suggest you watch the fight again. Taylor was going down as Smoger jumped in and there were no complaints.

If he had the wherewital to take a knee then he probably would have had it in him to protest.

Sure, I supposed Smoger could have allowed Pavlik to continue smashing Taylor's head in, but what for?

 

My thing is If Smoger can count for Pavlik....why not Taylor who is the CHAMP.

If Taylor couldn't get up then fine....but at least count. If Smoger didn't count for Pavlik...we would be reading different headlines thsi morning!!!!

I looked like Pavlik had Taylor pinned in the corner with no room to fall or take a knee, so if Smoger had not stepped in, Taylor probably would have sustained a serious injury. JMHO

Pavlik went down. The referee has to administer an 8 count. Taylor was trapped on the ropes being hammered and not going down, the only option he had was to jump in. So was the Corrales-Castillo stoppage bull**** too? Or Mercer-Morrison?

 

Given him a count when he was sloched over? Smoger did the right thing - we don't need anybody to get seriously hurt.
