Michał Soczyński vs. Youmbi Aloys, Jr., 4 rounds @ cruiserweight

 

Soczyński comes in 1-0 (1) at 23 years old, and was originally supposed to face Ethan King, another 1-0 prospect. Aloys comes in on late notice making his pro debut, although his amateur pedigree is said to be decent and he's a sparring partner of Dubois.

 

Jr. sat down in the first thirty seconds! Flash knockdown, but still...welcome to pro fighting, son.

Twas a stiff power jab on the chin.

 

10-8 Soczyński, looking very strong.

 

10-9 Aloys, now warming to it, moving nicely, hands dangerously low at times but walking the Pole onto counter jabs and 1-2s and using a beautiful left upper-hook on the inside to crowbar himself some leverage and breathing room. Soczyński himself rocked just before the bell, spun around by the ropes into a slouch and clobbered with a rabbit punch for good measure. Hell of a reversal of fortunes between the 1st and 2nd.

I'm going to be mightily impressed with "The Animal" (who seems to go by the rearranged moniker "Junior Aloys", with the commentators and ring announcer using this instead of his actual full name of Youmbi Aloys Jr.) if he can bag the fourth and thereby spring this upset on mere days' notice. That's quite a statement considering his introductory moments saw him dropped on a jab.

...but of the pair, he looks the far more complete (with Soczyński coming off as powerful but limited and uncreative) and that KD is easily written off as being inexperienced and caught out cold. Not a big red flag on his punch resistance, necessarily.

Excellent two-way action in the last frame, both sensing the fight may be in the balance.

Soczyński with heavy body shots until tied up and nullified, and Aloys with brilliant hooking combos in bursts when not defending.

 

Soczyński's face marked up badly. Swelling about his left eye, two parallel cuts below it.

 

Yeah either 38-37 Soczyński or 38-37 Aloys is a good scorecard depending on whom you give R3.

 

Tom Bates (referee) scores the contest 39-38 for Soczyński.

That means he gave a 10-10 somewhere in there, along with a 10-8 and one 10-9 for Soczyński, and one round for Aloys.
