BT to buy Boxnation!!

Hopefully BT will hand over BoxNation to Eddie Hearn and then the world will be perfect.

 

This is interesting. I can only imagine this would boost the quality of the programming for BoxNation.

As long as they keep Buncey and the team, and build around what they already have - the ****** contact, the Golden Boy deal, the focus on upcoming talent, perhaps continue in the recent vein of showing classic fights...

I'm not ultimately bothered, BoxNation as it is suits me just fine, but this sounds like a positive step to me.

 

Not sure if I said BT, but I was always convinced Frank was looking to sell it on. That was the rumour I'd heard from some folk I know at Sky.

Good news. The channel is a good idea but it needs more professionalism, which a big company like BT can hopefully bring in. New sets, new presenters, better commentators, better lighting, better sound, HD etc., are all essential if the channel is going to feel legitimate rather than smalltime.

 

bt have got loads of money in the first round of bidding they outbid sky for every football package available - sky **** it and that why this years tv deal is huge

should be good news for boxing fans if they take on boxnation programming wholesale - all the production money available hd etc more money available for overseas shows that sky dont give a **** about anyway ( primetime wont be happy ) more money for wazza to bring over decent opponents for domestic cards maybe a few of hearns fighters will jump ship back to the darkside

look out for some big shows domestic and international announced for bt/boxnation around the start of the next football season and bt launch time

edit - thinkin about if haye fights klit it will be on there and david price is handily placed to make a few quid

although if they just take on boxnation as part of there sports package nothing will change and it will be business as usual haha

With BT involved, that means BN would have access to more experienced in-house teams which should lead to higher quality.

Looking back now, it appears FW was (as always) thinking long-term when he launched BN. You may not like the guy, but he's a survivor. He got someone on the management team who he likely knew was in talks with BT (or had told him), and built a channel on virtually no real capital, with an eye on its much deeper pockets two years down the line.

Not if you're an Eddie fan, no. But for everyone else who just loves boxing, I'd say it's good news overall. Variety is to be welcomed.

 

Ah my mistake, I shall now always call him by his full title, Saint Edward King Saviour Of Boxing, Honesty And The Rainforest Junior The Third.

good for the fans but no doubt its going to hit our cost of the pints of beer a week budget

 

I'm already spending the equivalent of 1 pint of beer a week in order to watch boxing. Where will it all end?

 

but how will this affect a normal sky subscriber, who has sky sports and has boxnation? will BN still be available to sky subscribers?
