BT to buy Boxnation!!

Theres about 20 of us ln this forum that have mentioned some kind of BT/Box Nation connection.

And I never said anything close to that. I said the fan demand pushed for the fight.

 

Rob, I remember you saying I didn't know what I was talking about when I said Frank had created BN just to sell it ultimately. Recently you've kept saying there's no market for it.

 

I genuinley dont recall that but even if I had said that it wouldnt have been a stupid comment, why would any company buy a TV channel that lost £2mil on 2"
2012? makes no sense. ***** must have always known about the BT channel.

But as I said I never predicted BN would get purchased by Box Nation, but like many others I predicted *****s stable would end up on BT or the Box Nation programmed would be rolled into the BT Channel. No genius for predicting it. Only a genius if you genuinley predicted a BT purchase. Fair play if you did DF.

What doesn't make sense to me is didn't ***** leave Sky because he needed PPV? Unless BT are paying considerably more than Sky do for a show, he will be in a worse position than he was 2 years ago?

 

As I remember I made a thread about the co-founder of boxnation leaving and taking over as head of sport with BT. At the time I said the link was there and the two will hook up. The thread was then deleted - too much uncle frank hate

I am beggining to think ****** has already got £££ from BT. As he. Bid $500,000 for the the clev fight at purse bid and is now putting on a big card in march. This past year the only reason boxnations books have improved is because frank saved a lot of cash by putting on some poor shows and by leaving a lot of boxers on the shelve.

 

maybe BT want a big boxing show for the opening night of the TV channel, also explain how burns can get a good opponent. but i would be surprised to see it launch before the prem football is on.

 

Any guesses what the cost of this new channel will be?

 

In fairness, I didn't pick BT. But I could see that was the aim, to roll it up into another broadcaster. BT didn't really register with me until it bought the football rights, but I guess we'll see soon enough whether the deal comes off.

Incidentally, a £2m loss (which I think was only based off the first few months, wasn't it? 2012 reports won't be available until February or so) isn't that awful for a TV start up. Most of that is infrastructure costs and, with them out the way and with the economies of scale a larger broadcaster can implement, it's actually a fairly safe bet.

 

This has Setanta written all over it, anyone remember them ? they did great things boxing wise and got a foot in the door of the premier league but they went bust.

its a bit different bt are offering a total home entertainment package bt vision phone broaband fibre optic - sports is just another string to the bow setanta was just a sports channel

 

The price of a pint a week I'd imagine.

 

So this obviously means the end of boxnation and the content being moved to BT. Be sad to see it go, but if it means HD content and they still show fight cards from the US then its all good

 

If everything stays the same in regards to payment etc then it can only be a good thing.

 

BT is not gonna be no setanta , they have deep pockets and are pissed the sky have been doing phone/broadband deals

BT already have 38 prem games, of which it also has the top package , they also got rugby and football from italy , france , usa , brazil and germany

they gonna have 3 sports channels but i hope we dont get shafted in terms of £££
