Buakaw Does Deal with HK Epic MMA

So it kind of looks semi official, Buakaw has made the first step into the world of MMA by basing himself in Hong Kong with a new MMA outfit called Epic.

Personally I hope he doesn't go full on into the MMA world as he'd probably be nothing more than an interstng sideshow, a shame for a MT legend. He's got nothing to prove, but I realise the money must be very enticing, who can blame him after his fleecing at the hands of Por Pramuk. If he does it good luck, and I'm sure he's got everyone's support, just hope he doesn't.

No ground game at all, but as I understand it he wants to learn, but time probabaly isn't on his side.

If it was a stand up game Yod hasn't got a pray! Just out of interest I've never seen Yod with his MMA face on, is he any good? Can't imagine the Thais adapting well to ground work.

 

Different eras, oppurtunities, weights and skills let alone psychological make up. The floor game is as alien to Thais as cricket is to Somalis!

Buakaw has been forced out of MT which he still loves, Crocop was simply following the money.

 

I agree, I know little about MMA scene but I understand that's pretty tough weight region to be trying to make a name in. I think he should leave it alone and if he's interested in MMA just train guys in striking.

I think crossing over from styles favours HWs anyway. Cos of raw basic size and power as opposed to more technical fitter little guys. Hence success by guys like Crocop and Hunt.

Anyway, from what I can see most famous Thais that have turned over to MMA are still basically MT guys that struggle with the ground game, it's just way to alien to them and by the time they've turned over to MMA they are past their fighting primes anyway.

Buakaw would give it his all no doubt, but I think it'd be a bit like an MMA freakshow. He's to important for that.

Poor Yod, but it bascially sums up what I was saying the floor game, it's all just way too alien to them. Full credit to Yod for showing true fighting spirit by not taping out!:thumbsup

Buakaw I feel would fare better, but I belive he really should stay away from MMA unless it's in a coaching capacity.

Watching that kind of reminded me of Igor Vovchanchin (spelling?) in his early days when he turned over form kickboxing, he managed to basically get himself out of dangerous ground positions with sheer brute shtrength and will power, but the games moved on since then alot by the looks of it!:yep

 

It's official he's interested in doing MMA in the future.
