Buatsi vs Azeez is off...

Yeah they have really messed this up. Shalom is way out of his depth.

 

Anyone know if the card is still going ahead? And will Buatsi fight a replacement? If the card still goes ahead, they need to add another fight. I think there's only 4 confirmed.

 

Double the dross does not cut it for Matchroom either.

UK based boxing has been in decline for years and this year has been the biggest stinker yet.

At least 2-3 quality monthly UK based cards should be what fans expect and deserve.

The Catterall v OAP fight on Sat a very good example of the tripe being served up.

 

It isn’t a great main event. Hopefully we get Catterall vs Taylor II next which is the plan from what I’ve heard.

I’m really looking forward to Fiaz vs Bellotti on the undercard. I have to go for Bellotti to pull the upset. And to be fair to Matchroom, Queensberry and Boxxer have been headlining some of their cards with fights like that (e.g Adeleye vs two European bums on two separate York Hall cards, Jonas vs Dicaire, Clarke vs Wach, Zorro vs D’Ortenzi, etc).

The card is still going ahead. No more fights will be added I don’t think. If there is, it’ll probably be a prospect in a 6-round runout.

Will be watching the Matchroom card instead now. Hopefully they can rearrange the event. I’m not sure why they didn’t try and get Buatsi a replacement opponent. Probably to do with the finances.

 

Agree this year has been beyond terrible for the UK. Not convinced there's enough talent there atm for 2/3 quality UK cards a month though.

Feels like things won't improve any time soon either.

Class from Hearn. Exactly what I said. A lot of people thought that Boxxer would steal a lot of Matchroom fighters after their signings of Okolie, Buatsi, Billam-Smith and Mckinson, but it looks like they have pie over their faces.

 

100% , attention seeking is all it is.

Definitely smell a rat with this pullout though.

Absolutely gutted. An almost 50/50 fight between British light heavies.

Feel sorry for people that have lost money on travel and/or accomodation.


Will still watch this show though, rather than the boring Catterall vs a badly shopworn Linares card

 

If it’s going ahead may still pop along. Tickets pretty cheap.

 

There have been a lot of suspicious late cancellations for the bigger Buatsi fights, this one seems to be commercially motivated. Meanwhile his fights against lower opposition always seem to go ahead without an issue.

Given his inactivity and lack of progression as a professional it’s bizarre. We all have our theories here, and it’s probably a mixture of things causing this phenomenon.

It’s reached the point now where you are already calling it as soon as the fight has been signed.

On a side note, what is going on with the Wolverhampton card which is boxxers next fight night?

it's 4 weeks on Saturday and only 2 fights announced. Awful. I have tickets but wouldn’t be surprised if that gets canned due to poor sales.

 

2 main fights and then Dylan Cheema and Gully Powar have been announced on the card.

Ben Whittaker was supposed to fight Ricky Summers on the card which is why it's in Wolverhampton but everything has gone quiet there. Wasn't Summers supposed to fight Anthony Yarde but pulled out due to an "injury"?

Regardless though the venue holds just over 3000 so I'm sure they'll pretty much sell it out especially with getting some local fighters on the card.
