It’s funny to see the Spence fans (or former fans) jumping on the Boots bandwagon. Crawford has talked about moving to JMW for a while and Spence has first dibs at a rematch which I’m guessing Crow will want at 154.

Even if Spence declines the rematch, there are some bigger fights at 154 including Timmy and Charlo (after the Canelo debacle). Crawford could stay at 147 for one more fight if the Spence fight falls through, I just don’t see it happening.

As much as I hope it doesn’t happen, a fight with Canelo at 160 or catchweight between 160-168 is possible. Canelo is trying to avoid Bivol and Benavides, after he beats Charlo. He could fight the other Charlo I guess but does anyone really want to see that fight? The money is probably too good for Crawford to turn down but I hope a Canelo fight never happens. Sideshows are bad for boxing.

Even though I'm backing Boots against anyone he fights because he's a hometown guy, I agree with you guys to a point.

Boots definitely needs at least 1 more fight, preferably 2 before he takes on Crawford. Ennis is just not quite ready for Bud. Anyone else at 147 he beats, but he needs a little more work to be at full throttle.

Boots is a very good fighter. I think he has a bright future! But he's simply a top contender at WW, and one of a few mandatories TC has. Gotchahat is just an idiot clinging on the next guy to use to bash a fighter he doesn't like.

Yea, I’m not a fan of “he can do what he wants, he’s earned it.” No point in having rankings then. Fighters getting to choose their opponents is a huge problem these days. What does that even mean, he earned it? They all go through the same process.

Think the problem is Ennis just isn't that well known and is not any kind of draw. Crawford can probably make a lot more money against other guys, and that is what these guys fight for. Ennis' time will come but it will probably be down the road a bit.

It's ONLY acceptable if TC drops the belts and moves up to JrMW. Facing a 'gimme' at 147 would be a bad look.

Everybody brings up Boots as a potential fight, but instead of looking at him as a mando he's being looked at as a serious threat, which is why he's not even being considered right now. What stopped Oba Carr from getting his Mandatory shot at DLH? Nothing, he was a mando same as what ennis is now.

I agree. The only times it’s acceptable is if someone drops the belts and moves up. But for people to just say Ennis hasn’t earned it, which is a lie because we seen all year people begging for him to get his shot, is nonsense. No need to rank fighters anymore if champions can just say no. Two weeks ago Ennis was a “generational” talent. Now he’s not ready. I’ve always said he’s got big holes in his game. But if he’s the best the division has to offer, who else is there then? And nobody wants to answer that.

    Agreed

If Ennis is a mandatory (Although, one of a few since undisputed), he should get a shot regardless of his resume. Casuals, or trolls, only always want a name they recognize. They are annoying.

What’s funny is they say he hasn’t fought anyone yet to really earn his first title shot. Ok. Who did Crawford fight before his very first title fight? Who was Spence beating before his first title fight? Who was Tim Bradley fighting before his first title fight? Virtually every world “champion” today, was fighting nobodies before their first title fights.

Exactly. Most boxers who aren't household names, and that actually goes for a large majority, only get known after a big fight.

Ennis the mandatory fair and square. But Crawford will beat him. But that’s all in the game.
