After he knocked down Errol Spence, he pointed to Jermell Charlo and said you're next. This would indicate Bud wants Jermell Charlo at 154 next. But Jermell is fighting Canelo first. This content is protected
Why wouldn't he? If he's willing to fight Canelo at 168 why wouldn't he want Bud at 154? Win lose or draw vs Canelo he will still be Undisputed at 154. This clip shows that Bud wants to fight him. There's also the fact that Jermell will want to avenge what Bud did to his stablemate Spence. There's a big rivalry between Top Rank and PBC and Jermell will be super motivated to fight Bud after what he did to Spence. Did you know Jermell was in the locker room with Spence before the fight? Jermell has every reason in the world to fight Bud now, and this clip shows that Bud is literally edging him on, instigating this fight. No matter what happens against Canelo, if this clip is any indication, it seems very likely that Jermell will be Bud's next fight.
After Charlo takes the L vs Canelo he will just be thinking about paydays and not worried so much about wins and losses. He’s already got a loss but once he gets that Canelo money he’s going to prioritize the most important thing even more. Money. This game ain’t forever. Get paid and get out.
I think I said about 12 months ago Crawford beats **** out of either Charlo. The size advantage wouldn't mean ****. They are pea hearts and probably wouldn't last as long in there as Spence did.
I also liked Crawford wearing the fishing net on the side of his robe on his walk to the ring to catch the big fish Spence
Would love to see it, especially if Jermell is allowed to keep his belts. Crawford aiming to be undisputed in his 3rd weight class would be an amazing achievement. But I wonder if Jermell's handlers would want it. They already saw their man Spence get destroyed by Bud, is it in their interest to give Crawford another chance to expose another one of their champions? More likely Spence moves up, doesn't take the rematch with Bud, fights Jermell instead for all the belts. If Spence wins then maybe they can use the belts to sell the rematch which right now nobody really wants to see or if Jermell wins they try an age out Crawford again, talking up the fight but delaying it for as long as possible until Crawford maybe beatable.
Jermel didn't want it even way before the Spence fight was made, he was last seen tripping over his words with false confidence even discussing Terence.
Jermell can lose to Canelo, get his money and keep his belts and continue at LMW. If he loses to Crawford (and he would, although with his power and size it will be competitive for a bit I think) he loses his belts. So of course he's going for Canelo not Crawford. That being said, it's not an impossible fight to make after Canelo smashes Jermell at 168 lb. The fight I'd love to see is Crawford Vs Canelo. One has to favour the stronger man (i.e. Canelo) as Canelo is also elite, but Crawford does have a good style to beat Canelo and it's realistically the only way we get to see how good Crawford really is.
Because fighting Canelo is worth its weight in gold, meanwhile fighting Bud is a prospect of cutting back down to a weight he said he was having difficulty making WHILE COMPETING AT THE WEIGHT CLASS (let alone after a saunter up two weight classes, why are we learning nothing from Roy Jones Jr's heavyweight foray?) only to get the absolute **** kicked out of him by Bud for significantly less money? All because of some bad blood that stems from Bud knowing neither Charlo is as tough as they like to pretend to be when the cameras are rolling and mocks them right to their face for it? The only thing that awaits Jermell is maybe a little more money in his pocket and a life-changing beating. He'd make more money fighting against Tim Tszyu instead of milking that totally-legit hand injury of his to delay the fight.
I get what you're saying, but we don't know if Jermell dropping back down to 154 after fighting at 168 will be anything like RJJ coming back down to LHW after moving up to HW. That was a lot more weight for RJJ, he was older when he did it, he had a lot more boxing miles on him when he did it, and he still came back down and beat Tarver the first time. For all we know Jermell may not put on much weight. I'm not sure Jermell could go back down to 154 safely after Canelo, but I'm not ruling it out either. Just because one fighter had a problem with it doesn't mean another fighter could do it. I mean when Bivol first started talking about moving down to 168, everyone said no they don't wanna see another Ward vs Dawson. Dawson couldn't do it safely, but that doesn't mean Bivol couldn't. Now everyone wants to see Canelo fight Bivol at 168. Every fighter's different, and though I hear you about your doubts about Jermell being able to go back down to 154, we just don't know what could happen. If Jermell beats Canelo then he's Undisputed at 154 and 168 and the fight with Bud could happen at 160 for the SMW Undisputed for all we know. There's a ton of possibilities here but even with a loss, I still wouldn't put it past Jermell to get back down to 154 safely and fight Bud. You got to remember Jermell Charlo is a high energy highly conditioned fighter. He's very capable of shredding weight and doing it better than most, and he's very capable beating both Canelo and Bud in my opinion. Of course he could also lose to both, but the difference is most people aren't giving him a chance in either fight and that's where they wrong.
I'd love to see this fight after charlo loses to canelo. Hopefully it can be made if charlo can somehow shrink his way back down to 154 after going up to 168 for Canelo.
