I think that Nova was a contender of a slightly higher calibre, who had much better key wins, and I would intuitively favour him. Having said that, I don’t think that Buddy Baer got the chance to prove quite how good he was, and I have a feeling that he was better than his record suggests. So I would pick Nova here, but I am not counting Buddy out.
Nova was the better boxer. Buddy had some ko power in his shots. Tough fight to call but at his best I would go with Nova out boxing Baer early and getting a methodical stoppage late.
Is my impression that Nova was a pretty good talent that might have had a little bit of flake in him.
