Buddy Baer vs Sam Peter primes

I honestly think Sam Peter was a manufactured guy. He struggled with James Toney, who was great, but a middle. He knocked down Wladdy three times, but that was back when everyone was doing it. He beat Maskaev for the title, and again, a lot of guys could have done that.

He was short, crude, free-swinging, overrated power, and those were his good qualities.

I would go with the Baer who knocked Joe Louis through the ropes, and if I am wrong, I am wrong.

 

Sam Peter. He had the power and the chin and the guts.

 

I couldn't agree more.

I think I'd be correct in saying that the difference with Peter's KDs of Wlad is that he couldn't finish the job; whereas, anyone else who'd had Wlad in a similar situation, converted it into a Win.

Peter's one and only stoppage win over a ranked opponent, in Maskaev, was the latter's 5th stoppage loss, from a total of 6 such defeats. Maskaev lost in no other fashion.

Despite this and that Maskaev was 39 years old, Peter made a meal out of it - eventually stopping him on his feet.

I would too.

Peter is immensely overrated - typically, by fans of the Klitschko brothers.

 

Everything Baer didn't lack.

 

Not nearly as overrated as Buddy Baer's well-padded and mattressed record.

I’m leaning towards Baer but it’s not a given. Neither of those men were sweet scientists and both hit like trucks.

 

Baer, because Peter isn't skilled at all.

 

To the people who just Sam Peter just becuz he lost to Klitschko doesn't understand the full picture. Wlad was being a f_cking octopus that day. All he did was clinch, one-two clinch, jab clinch, feint a punch clinch, Peter moving forward to him clinch. Knocking out an octopus is a very difficult task. Tyson failed to knock Bonecrusher, Williams failed to knock out Terrell and Trinidad failed to do it against Camacho.

With Wlad's staggering build and strength, we may have seen a dull and boring fight if it were match with someone else. But Peter somehoe made it exciting, he was extremely strong and shove off some of his Wlad's clinches and drop him THREE TIMES. Just goes to show how strong Peter was. Wlad also had no ability to tie him up whenever his hurt so he had no choice but use his feet and survive. Wlad describe him it's like a brick you can't crush, like a truck.

Peter also showed an incredible chin. Getting hit by clean shots and clean shots and was far from getting knocked out except for the left hook where also took it and didn't go down. The beating he took, my goodness. Don't know how he survived from that.

I pretty much favor Peter comfortably against the Klitshcko from Brewster. In fact, I pick to beat the version of Wlad faster than Brewster could. The problem with Peter is that he never showed up in great shape after the Klitschko 1st Klitschko fight. He was a lazy b_stard who doesn't wanna train and came in terrible condition in every fight.

Peter can win, in an all out exciting brawl.
