No, he's not. He isn't a great trainer. He also isn't horrible. He's pretty much average. (but it's become a common boxing forum in-joke to say that he is horrible, because he's had some very visible losses thanks in large part to often being in the corner of very big underdogs in high-profile fights) You mistook something that is more of a joke and not seriously believed by actual knowledgeable, intelligent boxing fans (the whole "curse" thing) as being real and made a stupid post in the Tyson thread exposing yourself as not being in on the joke and taking it at face value.

Then you were called on it.

Rather than let it go, you've continued to dig your heels in and exhibit more and more desperate behavior in a losing battle to save face and not look like a complete moron who recycles opinions he "heard somewhere" rather than forming his own. You look worse and worse the longer you drag this out.

The mods can and probably WILL ban you for the rash of unnecessary thread bumps (which you can't undo, idiot) and when they do I'm going to laugh. Good riddance.

 

What have you proven? That over the years some people have said he's a shitty trainer?

Guess what? I can bump about 4-5 threads where multiple people say that Sugar Ray Robinson was overrated, or that Manny Pacquiao is ducking Rustico Torrecampo, or that Lennox Lewis was a paper champ. Just because a lot of people say something doesn't mean it's fact - ESPECIALLY here on ESB where there's a high occurrence of both trolls and genuine idiots.

Has McGirt had more failures than success at the top level of the sport when in the corner? Yes.

Has he ruined a couple of fighters or severely set them back in their development? Yes.

Does that mean he's a "horrible" trainer overall, balanced against the positives in his coaching career? No, you ****ing ******.

You think I'm going to hesitate to tell someone they're full of **** and out of line because they "show me respect" or have been complimentary to me? Sorry, I don't play favorites or pander yes-men. Anyone on this forum will tell you that I tell it like it is 100% of the time and have no fear of making enemies, even out of friends. When you're wrong you're wrong and will be told as much.
