McGirt vs PBF at welteweight, great fight. Mcgirt had exceptional defense and decent power. He really did hurt Whitaker a few times in both of their fights. PBF who has proven very little at welterweight by retiring at age 30 and avoiding the very best this division has to offer, is in for a tough fight and probably has his hands full with this guy. I can see McGirt knocking pbf down in a close fight. I would lean toward a draw.
Most fighters that move up to their highest weights do nothing there. Is james toneys career at heavy greater than his true career? How about Jones ? How was his career at heavy? fighters move up a few divsions have a few fights there and usually retire. I wanted to participate in the topic as it has a good matchup but then it got all weird at the end with you trying to dictate what a fighter needs to do when they move up in weight. Joe calzaghe moved up out of his original weight class and fought two 40 year old men:deal AND THEN RETIRED:deal See how that works? " Like OMG!!! JC didnt fight Dawson and Tarvaris CLoud !!! He should have waited until he fought them to reire!!!!! He did 'nt do anything at LHW!!!! see ? ******ed isnt it?
Haha!!!! Classick! By the way Buddy would get mopped Pernell was the type of defensive fighter who just got out of the way he wasn't had good of counter puncher in my view as Floyd and that would be the difference in the fight and the reason Buddy lost to Pernell was because he had to be aggressive which really wouldn't work in his favor against Floyd it would be i good fight entertaining but Floyd wins UD.
For someone who says PBF ain't **** and isn't even a top 100 ATG. You sure the hell can't help making a lot of threads about him?:think
- First of all, this topic relates solely to the McGirt - PBF matchup which would have been very interesting. - It seems that you have a hard time dealing with the fact that your fighter surprsingly retired in his prime at age 30. Further, even more amazingly you are stating that other fighters have undertaken similar actions. Well, they have not and those examples can easily proven wrong. Joe Calzaghe is 36 year old not 30, not in his prime arguably faced the best light heavy. James Toney is 40 and not 30, not in his prime tough competition at heavywweight. He also fought the best cuiserweight at age 35. Well, Roy Jones never really entered the heavyweight division and said that from the beginning on. But let's bring back the thread to its original purpose, the mcGirt - pbf matchup, a very competitive and interesting fight.
Well, I never stated that PBF is not a top 100 ATG. I believe that arguments can be made for him being a TOP 100 ATG and in a decade or two might very well be seen that. He certainly has amazing skills and subtle style. But his lack of longivity and competiton (compared to other TOP ATG) will keep him outside the TOP 50 IMHO and hurt his legacy. with all du respect, I would rather bring back the thread to PBF vs McGirt at welterweight.
Floyd wins this one. Buddy was a good fighter but not great. He ot beat twice by Sweet Pea and I see the same type outcome for Floyd. BTW, Pea beats Floyd too.
