The key to beat Camacho, imo is with good counters, mens like Greg are able to touch him because of his counterpunching, even an old,45 y/o Duran was able to arguably beat Camacho in the first fight, with counterpunching.

But Buddy's weaknesses are kind of slicksters like Meldrick or Pernell, although to think about it,he did manage to go competitive and beat some slicksters such as Mamby,Davis and I think he probably drew with Pernell in the first fight, this weaknesses also only showed when he got that shoulder injury.

Who do you got winning this one?

Buddy and very easily. Lets face it post Rosario Camacho was never the same.
Cruz dropped him at jr.welterweight and I always thought Mancini did enough to win.
He basically has the win vs Davis who absolutely had no power at all.
Buddy actually might end up stopping Camacho.

McGirt wins by clear decision at 140, but there is not a shot in Holy Hell of him stopping Hector.

You mean to tell me Rosario, Chavez, DLH, and Trinidad couldn't stop Camacho...

    Yet Buddy McGirt might? Lol

McGirt is a wonder! - he’d school Macho Man, might stop him too, not sure on that though.

These calls for a possible stoppage are asinine. Camacho faced arguably the 4 most offensively devastating fighters of the late 80s to late 90s from 135-147 and wasn't stopped. He had a granite chin and he was very slick, smart, and crafty.

McGirt was a sharp, but not devastating puncher. Why on Earth would you guys be thinking possible stoppage?

    Severely overrating McGirt here.

If it's the Camacho that shut out Davis, then it's a competitive fight. Hector would build an early lead with his handspeed. I would expect McGirt to score the cleaner shots down the stretch and win a deserved decision, but a stoppage for Buddy is out of the question and not based on any evidence.

Yeah, Buddy is more of the Greg Haugen type, and while I do think Greg beat Camacho twice,no way both were gonna ko Camacho or even stop him.
Post-Rosario Camacho literally refuses to cut or stay down,he can be rocked but you'll never defeat him with the count.

Buddy McGirt by clear decision. Big fan of Buddy who was a slick boxer.

Learnt from the Franke Warren loss to own him in the rematch, landed the perfect punch to destroy the veteran Howard Davis and even briefly rocked Meldrick Taylor before being outsped by a brilliant fighter.

His dominant decision wins over Simon Brown,Gary Jacobs and massacres of Joe Gatti+Joe Louis Manley at welter were masterclasses on punch perfect performances.

Pushed Whittaker so close in their 1st encounter with a reported injured left shoulder from the Genaro Leon fight.

Not surprised he become a good trainer.

Too bad he lately got a bad rep because of how he supposedly killed one of his fighters.

No, the Haugen comparison isn't accurate either.

McGirt was several levels better than Haugen.

He just isn't stopping Camacho that's all.

Still though, both had quite the similar stats,no much special talents nor terrific power, and both aren't stopping Camacho by those stats.

Camacho fought Freddie Roach with both weighing in at 137 1/2 immediately after, and immediately before, he fought Rosario. This version of Camacho, coming off probably his finest ever performance, would be a decent chance of outpointing McGirt. Post Rosario then McGirt would be favored IMO.

McGirt is a beautifully skilled old school pug but his high level wins are a little short on the ground. Having said that his pasting of Simon Brown was one great performance.

I would argue that first fight with Pernell Whitaker was his second best,or you can switch it up with his second fight vs Warren.
