Wether Lamon was shot or not, why the hell would he want Lamon not to be aggressive with a proven, fragile fighter? It makes no sense to me or anyone who has watched both men over the years, Lamons style is to take punches to give them, why have him change what worked for him for the most part in the past?

Buddy is not a good trainer, which he has proved time and time again, his corner instructions are terrible as well. He tends to say the all wrong things to his fighters, and most of the time they pay for it in the ring.

I don't know man there are too many factors that go into a fighters performance on fight night. Most things are completely out of a trainers control and they are not even aknowledged. But IMO, Motivation, Trust and Respect are the biggest things a fighter should look for in a trainer. All the "ring smarts" and Trainer intelligence IMO should come secondary. I'd rather be trained by a trainer I got chemistry with than a trainer that knows everything but doesn't know how to motivate me/gain my respect and thus no chemistry.

I mean look at the advice Trinidad Sr. would give his son lolol, You wouldn't get ANY advice from Papa Tito, All you'd get, and this is the God honest translation to an example of what Tito Sr would tell his son in the corner... "Dame tu nariz!"...."Give me your nose *whipes nose*, Smacks Tito on his cheek, and says "C'mon Lets go"...

Sometimes, thats ALL YOU REALLY NEED as a figher!!! It took Trinidad very far, Tito was obviously blessed with power, But you can find examples of this throughout boxing all over the place....

Which speaks to my point about improper strategy. He tries to turn everyone into a slick boxer in pretty much any situation, which you can't always do.

He also did everything but hit Eddie Chambers with a chair in the Povetkin fight to get him to move his hands but Chambers simply wouldn't do it, which was a case of right tactic, unwilling fighter.

McGirt is partly to blame but mostly Powell. You guys had to of seen the ******ed **** he was doing. Chilling in the corner with his hands down, standing in place after throwing a shot, etc. You don't need a trainer to know you don't do that. That being said McGirt should have engraved those points into Powells head.

I think McGirt is an above average trainer that has the potential to do great work with a fighter. Much like a boxer that is usually average but capable of putting on a great performence.

He is not a great proven trainer like Nacho or Steward.

He did engineer Tarver's win over RJJ though I have to admit. I remember Tarver describing how Buddy showed him film and explained just how to throw that punch. Buddy's a better trainer than his recent record indicates.

Yes he was & he advised Forrest to stop looking for one big punch even though he was winning at the time. He then went on to lose.
