I've noticed that Buddy McGirts fighters have had a losing streak. Is he that bad of a trainer, it seems when his fighters loose, they loose in style Gatti-Mayweather Adamek-Dawson Tarver-Hopkins & Brewster-Klitschko all of his fighters really got a beating or got totally dominated.
He is really that bad. The problem with Brewster is that Brewster came to him looking for a more safe approach to winning. However, a trainer in his right mind would put his charge on notice as to how limited he is. Reason being that ultimately you will lose. Brewster as a boxer ultimately takes as much damage if not more than he would just going out like a whirlwind. I mean lets look at the facts. Golota by all accounts is one of those guys who is punishing. If he gets the time to relax and think about what he is doing you are in trouble. With Brewster going for a more reckless approach, he was able to take Golota out before he could deal any punishment. So essentially, he is taking less damage. Many times a boxer isn't the one who knows best for himself. This applies to many situations. McGirt should know this as a trainer. Even if he has to play the bad guy.
When you put it like that he doesn't look like a great trainer. I still liked his attitude though, wanting to protect Lamon's health above anything else. His professional record may be looking worse, but I gained respect for him anyway.
it wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that in each fight he had the inferior fighter would it?
The Gatti fight plan vs Mayweather was the worst I have ever seen. Buddy wanted Gatti to try to boxwith mayweather?Insane.
In 3 of those fights, the trainer would not have made one bit of a difference. Tarver, Gatti, and Brewster were destined to lose since the ink touched the paper. People seem to forget just how badly Brewster was getting beat in the first fight before getting lucky. Hell if the fight had been stopped in Wlad's favor about 2 rounds sooner, there would have been no controversy. That being said, I do think that Mcgirt is extremly over rated as a trainer.
Yeah my brother noticed this to me... some years ago he was on a peak but now his fighters just can't win.
McGirt will take a fighter from star to journeyman...I'd like to see him start training the KLITs...:yep
Didnt Mcgirt train Golota for his fight against Brewster? Then Mcgirt trained Brewster against Liakhovich, and Klitschko II.
No he didn't train Golota. He trained him in the Bates fight tho.... I reckon. He wasn't in Golota corner tho.
The thing is with Mcgirt, he tries to make every fighter in to a boxer..That being said he is a bad trainer. All trainers except freddy roach train fighters to fight one way or the way they want them to fight. Rather then training them towards there natural ability and advantages. Trying to make a boxer out of Brewester was disaster and he would of probably got knocked out but tooken less of a beating if he fought more reckless b/c Wlad cant handle pressure. If you force him out of his pace then you got a chance to get that shot in. Thats why some fighters under the same trainer are more successful than others. I mean what mcgirt did with Gatti was horrible, but what he did with Paulie is wonderful. Though Paulie dont really listen to him too much. Paulie is a boxer with the heart of a fighter and Mcgirt dont let his fighters fight with there heart. He is a safety first even if you lose kind of guy. All and all, I would not have him train me or any fighter that I like. I would go with Freddie. B/c he understands that you cant train everybody to be a perfect boxer.
Hell yeah that was a good plan, but gatti got intemidated by his speed and counters. If you head hunt with mayweather you wont hit him at all. You just got to punch something. No matter who trained gatti he would of got the same results.
