I feel Foreman was far better than Bugner by the late 80`s but some people credit Frank for beating Bugner who was older than George, if Foreman chose Joe for his first comeback opponent could Bugner have won?
Bugner. Foreman fought stiffs early in his comeback and would be made to work hard. Bugner was active. Too tough for his first fight back after 10 years.
Foreman looked pretty sloppy against Steve Zouski, his 1st comeback opponent but after 10 yrs out that was to be expected. Around the same time Bugner had decent wins against Tillis, Bey and Page. It all depends if a 37yr old Bugner can stay on the move enough and not get caught laying on the ropes..........I dont think he can and can see Foreman sloppily getting a stoppage around 8 rounds or a close decision after Bugners better work in the earlier rounds
I remember the pictures of Foreman's 87 comeback fight, it was a bit of fun back then for George, he was not taking things too serious. Bugner in the period beat Bey, Tillis and Page, he was on a different planet to George, one good psych job (if he could have blagged Bruno) from fighting prime Tyson.
Foreman was very rusty in 87 didn't look good . I don't think Foreman would of gone near Joe in his early fights .George knew what bugner was like way too crafty .
Bugner looked pretty good for a while against Bruno before being stopped, but I think 1990 Foreman would knock him out sooner than Bruno did. But, as already mentioned, there was still an inch thick layer of ring rust in 1987 and I bet Bugner would have made him look bad at the very least, severely dampening any publicity his comeback was to receive. It might well have been career-altering.
Bugner would have ran all night like the chicken that he is. Foreman wins every round in a boring fight.
