I'm trying new ways to build my endurance for the up coming season. Mostly my shoulders and legs. My cardio conditioning (lungs) feels pretty good from the running and sparring I do. With my shoulders, I do different drills on the bags with heavy gloves etc. I also do punch-out drills and tabata type of stuff on occassion.

I used to lift weights 3x a week, but I have stopped. I would usually do big compound lifts like bench, squat, press etc for 6-12 reps. Mostly for strength.

I want to do some high reps stuff with light weights or bodyweight stuff. I always get that fatigue in my shoulders and quads in the 3rd round when I really go hard. Does anyone have this problem and what do you do for it? Like I said, my lungs feel ok... I do get winded but its the fatigue that slows me down.... Thanks in advance for any advice.

See my article on "aerobic energy system" and the type I oxidative muscle fibers for training muscular endurance specifically although this may not be your problem.

Your question is have I ever had a problem with quick fatigue? When I start sparring again I do fatigue because of tension. I am wondering if you simply hold alot of tension in the ring when sparring? I know a lot of people tense there legs and shoulders in the ring and burn out quickly. Think of flexing a muscle over and over and see how quickly it fatiques. If you can hit a heavy bag non stop for round after round but get winded after 3 rounds of sparring, then tension is your problem.

Just type in aerobic energy system into this search engine and click on the first post. It by no means is the end all know all but I feels explains hopefully in a common sense way how to train to develop this energy system. Let me know what you think Mr. Small. I have read your posts and know that you are knowledgable so I welcome your positive and negative feedback and views.

Theres something going to happen very soon, that I think will turn everything upside down, for muscular endurance. Its had 10 years of testing, wanted to get it spot on, results have blown everyone away that are participating in the testing. Great thing about it is theres no impact, yet it produces a lot more lactic than other forms of exercise, while making the body work 35% more efficient. When i get the video ill put it up. Promise :D

    This?

You just need to give it time and train in a manner that improves these areas i.e use heavy gloves, keep your hands up and try and keep going. Shoulders and quads are what most beginners have get tired anyway, there is no secret, just keep it going mate. If its not fatigue there, it will be your lungs, etc etc
If nothing gave out, you'd be a world champion.
