    excellent points plus:

    1) master the jab and use it!

    2) Stamina, stamina, stamina

    3) become a student of the game . . . study old footage of the greats and if ya can spar with james toney . . . he is the most skilled heavyweight boxer today.

Even though you're are an ex-football player, you are working hard. In a couple years you'll be ready for the pros. Take your time in the amateurs, there is no need to rush to the pros.

You look very good hitting the pads for somebody that is just picking up the sport of Boxing. I did notice that it looked you were a bit slow in your footwork, but it's hard to get a real grasp without a sparring session or an amateur fight. You do have some talent and don't worry about picking up Boxing late, lots of Boxers picked up Boxing late and had good/great careers. Good luck to you bud! :good

If you keep your hands this low, you need very good reflexes to get your head out of line on counters. Take a note out of the Eddie Chambers book, he has more or less your height.

You also should not look where you are punching at, but keep focus "in your opponent", using peripheral vision.

    My 2 cents are...

Keep focus as always... One time I had a brief conversation with B-Hop at a gym at 5 AM as he was there already working out. One thing that he told me was. "If you want to stay champ you have to work EVERYDAY". You are a young guy, think about what the Klits are doing... they don't rest my friend, they work out everyday and they are 100% committed. I know you are in Vegas so stay away from alcohol, party and women... believe me, they will always be there.

Party and women in their place are ok, as long as your training doesn't ever suffer. If you "avoid" something natural, it will come back as obsession. Although, typical partygirls have a bad influence, as they tend to try toying with their "boys" to attract more attention. Date girls on vacation instead. ;) Marrying a good person also has a very stabilizing impact, look at Vitali Klitschko.

Drugs of any kind are unforgiving to the body.

Oh yeah, get a good promoter that will not rush you! fight every tomato can you can every month for a year and then bigger tomato cans they next. do not let people tell you that you have to fight king kong over night. you can make up for your lack of amateur background by fighting a lot.

you look great. your a true heavyweight. you not some tall, small boned guy who put put on lots of muscle to be a heavyweight. youve got everything you need with that 83 inch reach. its longer than both the klitschko brothers reach.

one more thing it says you train in 20 oz, but winning only makes up to 18 oz

Deontay Wilder is solid and will be the next generations HW champion ... he's a project in the making but he has a solid right hand to build some other attributes around.

Think about this Wilder won the Olympic Bronze Medal and the argument could be made in his fight against the more accomplished Clemente Russo (2008 World Champion) that he won (Russo is more awkward that Carlos Maussa) ... with only 2-3 yrs of organized fighting experience.
