Just remember....HAND SPEED. That's what makes you a scary fighter. A telephone pole hitting you won't hurt you if it's only moving at 2mph. But someone hitting you with a baseball bat in full swing will explode your head open even though the bat weighs a millionth of what the telephone pole weighs.

The point being that you've got strength, but strength isn't punching power until you develop FAST hands. You're looking pretty good, but I get the impression that maybe you're unconciously thinking "I'm a big strong guy, and every punch is going to be a big strong punch". That can slow you down a bit, and you can't afford to lose that bit. Think in terms of trying to get your hand from point A to Point B in the fastest possible time. The speed CREATES the power.

Do a Google on plyometrics. That form of exercise will help you with the hand speed, apart from the mentality set out above. Good luck.

Best of luck with your career :good

Stay focussed and dedicated. Keep putting the hard work in the gym, it will eventually pay off. Don't ever become over reliant on your power though, that sometimes hinders a lot of big guys.

I'm not going to give you any technical advice, that'll come in the gym.

Just stay hungry champ, 100's off young guys out there want that spot, you've got to prove to yourself you want it more.

    And easy on the x-box.

hey man if you are serious about this you can literrally make millions upon millions of dollars the american HW landscape is so open and just begging to throw money at a US haevyweight.

If I was an up and coming fighter, I would focus on 3 categories before improving the rest.

    1. Defense. You can go far without great defense but never all the way.

    2. Speed. I'm talking explosiveness. Plyometrics non stop. SPEED is the deciding factor in so many fights.

    3. Stamina and conditioning. This is more important than strength and power. As your career progresses you will go more and more rounds and a fighter who can fight 12 rounds like the first is pretty much one of the most dangerous threats and it also makes him recover better when he's hurt.

BTW don't stress about starting late. Just remember that the top5 p4p fighters in the sport are all over 30 which you're 8 yaers away from being and actually 2 of the top are between 35-40 and 1 of them is over 40 years old. And its not like the heavyweight division is deep with rich talent.

BOXING IS MIND OVER MATTER. Strength of mind. Defense and conditioning go hand in hand with that. Explosiveness and speed is a physical tool that will make it all much much easier.

Yea man. It really is. All one needs is a solid team like Mike Tyson had. The support in boxing really isn't like what I was used to in football..am I right? I mean I get great coaching...but I thought it was gonna be like a Mike Tyson Cus D'amato type of situation ya know.

Thanks PH LLA....that was some real good stuff that I'm glad you shared with me. You guys are reminding me about a lot of things that don't get talked about everyday in building a fighter. All this insight is great. Especially the posts on not focusing to much on power. That really helps to!

Just curious champ, how do you feel about you're all round game at the moment?
What are you happy with and what needs improved?

Hey man how are you doing. Well, I feel pretty good all around but nowhere near content. I feel like some things that I can improve upon are definitely staying focused through all 3 mins of the round and not being so completely relaxed in the ring. I know it may sound a little foolish, but for my stage..how relaxed I am...I do somethings based off athleticism that I can get away with on guys of my level..but I'm sure more experienced vets would make me pay for I feel. So those are some things I have to work on.
