    Slantone,

Thank you very much man. That's what I mean by everyone has great insight. You are right..its not just talent and athletic ability alone that will take one far..its that drive to do as the champions do...to never miss a morning run or a day you are supposed to train..because that can aid in the difference between champion and contender. Thanks very much man...wow..that was powerful stuff..I won't slack a minute..

And yea man..the pad work with Roger and Floyd is a sight to see. I can't even explain it. Videos don't even do it justice...only thing I can say is that it isn't choreographed which is crazy..its all reaction based..with very few calls..I stand by the ring and u can't even hear Roger say anything! And its something different EVERYTIME.and I saw him do it for 30 seconds straight all power punches. Its one of a kind. Roger has me and my brother on the same type of thing..but it will take a while..but we are getting there..I hope that helps!

And PH LLA..my name is Leyon Azubuike

Youngchampion, there was an article about former canes fullback Qaudtrine Hill and some former d. 1 football players in an espn magazine that were training in boxing. Some guy built up somewhat of a farm system down there in florida for those guys in the hopes of producing a heavyweight champ, you should look into tha, seems you have pretty good tools and good luck.

    Pistal7,

Thanks a lot man. I appreciate that. I've heard about it a little while ago. Heard they have the best of the best type of structure. I will definitely look into that. Thanks for looking out! I actually played against 2 of the guys who won their pro debut. Quadtrine Hill and James Bryant. I played against them when I played for Temple University. James is actually a good friend of mine. Once again, I appreciate you looking out for me!

Nice, a buddy of mine grew up in Wyomissing and played against Bryant in high school, he played for Reading or something like that. I guess he was a beast. Just remember, these guys you are fighting, all they are is just people, no better than anyone else, you want it bad enough just go out and take it. Look forward to seeing you on tv and hopefully bringning those belts back to the states where they belong, you got the best country out there backing you.:good

wow - its all reaction based. that is amazing.

gonna follow your progress leyon- please post anything that happens worth mentioning- fights, sparring, training whatever- i think i speak for us all when i say- it will be an honour for us all to follow a humble, young warrior on his journey- wherever it may lead. all dream of riches and fame- but along the way you will certainly find something more valuable that you didnt expect.

    Update to my EastSideBoxing Family:

Training has been so hard that I almost fear coming to the gym. Everyday is harder then the last. Its a good type of fear though, because I know that from my last fight..keeping a welterweight type pace in training..made the fight easy for me. Tommorow I will have to run Mt. Charleston in the morning at 10000 ft elevation! Talk to you guys soon!

Do you have a nickname picked out?

English is not my 1st language so..but here it is..

I hadnt posted but here is my post...I am pretty sure Roger knows more than anybody here but if you can get some good insight from my experience watching and practicing boxing here it is...

First of all... DO NEVER THINK YOU CANT DO IT OR ITS TOO MUCH !! NEVER LOOSE FAITH IN YOURSELF !!

In the aspects of the game:

    1) I really liked the explosiveness you showed in those vids.
    2) You were fast in that sparring session..

Now from what I can see of those videos I would tell you..

    1) You really need to work in your footwork no offense but you showed pretty bad footwork but its something you can work it because from the explosiveness you showed your feet were quick.. I think your problem is the way you stand..It gets me the impression that you dont have a well balanced stand even when you are coming straight quick or going side to side same goes when you are not busy you seem too flat foot, someone who can counter could put you down becuase of that and not exactly with a huge punch..But you can work on this a lot you showed quick feets and I know you are very athetich so you can improve a lot in this aspect...

    2) Defense..I couldnt see a lot becuase those videos were too short but in those moments of explosiveness which were great by the way you let your hands open but becuase of your quickness those sparring partners couldnt capitalize, kind of remind me of the way Pac come in, i have always critize that about pac but he is so fast that even with those mistakes is really hard to catch him it gotta take someone with very good reflexes and a good counter puncher, but if you can take alook at your own video tapes you can see... You can work on this by reapeating and reapeating and reapeating your combos once a punch is thrown always try to get your other hand in a way a counter punch wouldnt hurt you that much this is just for a fraction of a second before you unload your next punch with the same hand you are using to protect that fraction of a second and again get the other hand (the one of the 1st punch) where you can protect yourself and so on depending on the number of punches of your combos...this gets better REPEATING AND REPEATING until you do it naturally i mean naturally your hands will go there.. Watch Tyson tapes and Mayweather tapes in the pocket...

    3) You already mentioned it yourself, Cuting the ring, its something you can work on it a lot and you will be 3x more dangerous than before..you are really athethic you get better a lot, watch JCC tapes he is the master of this...

Sorry if I offended you I just tried to let you know my view, I think you got a lot of phisical attributes they are there but you need to work hard on it..and last but not least STAMINA STAMINA STAMINA !!! Stamina wins championships(workrate) Do never believe you are doing too much for this you wouldnt believe how many great boxers have ended up their carrers just as Great prospects because of that they were Great 8 round fighters but not 12...

All right thats it hope I could be useful and I wish you the best man I wish I would be in your feets, it was my dream but I decides to go to school at that time and couldnt keep with boxing because I moved and the nearest gym was way to far away, so I hope you get all your goals and keep us informed !!

Hey hows it going. The run went great. I just moved into the garage of a very good friend so now I am alot closer to the mountain. I used to have to take a bus an hr down to the transit station...then and 45 mins to his house just to get close to the mountain, but now I am only 15 mins away so thats BIG. I had a good run, but my trainers switched it up on me. As soon as I came in the gym they made me do a 2 mile interval sprint on the treadmill, but it went ok. And I cant wait to spar Ruiz. A little nervous, but in a good way!
