Bum fights Lopez vs Salido.

I may just be jaded from all the faces of death and bum fight dvds i use to watch along with all the mma and boxing i have watched over the years. But this type of fight just dose not do it for any more. I don't think that it so much that they are b and c fighters alone that makes me not like but it how those b and c fighters preformed combine with their potential performance that make this fight meh for me.
I mean we had defensively flawed, high work rate, bangers, in the Anglo v Kirkland fight and they have not proven them selfs to be elite fighters yet but i thoroughly enjoyed their fight and can watch it again and again because as a fight there was a lot of things to look at as far as head movement, defense, shots thrown, etc. But most importantly both fighters where there to fight and both fighters fought as them selfs. They may be flawed at a lot of things but they did their best.
Lopez didn't bring it because of fear and poor technique and Salido brought every thing he had against a scared fighter with poor technique and both looked poor while doing it.
While this is no where near a Hopkins Dawson or Mosley Mora i personally don't feel it's near a Anglo Kirkland or Maidana Khan.
But this year is just starting so we will see how this fight fits into the rest of this years candidates.
The one supremely complementary thing i can say for these two is at least they actually fought in the ring. Which is becoming a rare thing in boxing.

Khan vs Maidana? What? I agree that was a good scrap but c'mon, Maidana can't box for ****. The only skill displayed in that fight was when Khan was putting on a boxing clinic early on. Then the second half of the fight had Khan taking a round or two off to catch his breath and Maidana by the skin of his teeth managed to get a second wind and started unleashing slow wild haymakers like a pissed up pub fighter.Khan running out of steam was the only reason that fight looked as competitive as it did, YDKSAB.

I know i am going to catch a lot of heat for this but i that salido vs lopez 2 was meh.
I mean you have Lopez scared of Salido and trying to use a complicated defensive style to fight Salido and looked plained ******ed doing so. and for his lack of defense he got smacked around a lot cause he dose not move his head at all. By the time he got to useing a defense style that would more suit him it was to late the k.o. was already in full motion.
Then we have Salido who fought hellishly on the brink every round to take out a scared and defenseless fighter. Salido every round had to give it his all to control the fight. Lopez was there for the taking and it took every thing Salido had to take him.
Lopez for a young fight who is supposed to be improving didn't learn crap.
Salido who is the defending world champ dose not look like he going any where special after this.
This was a B fighter (Lopez) with a weak mentality and even weaker defense fighting a C fighter at best (Salido ), from that you get Bum fights.

I'm sick of hearing people down this fight because it went against the script or because it had P4P implications or some ****. None of that matters.

That was a great fight. Plain and simple. Salido and Lopez, regardless of your assessment of their level (B, C, etc..) put up the fight of their lives. They showed tremendous heart and were both completely in the fight up until the point of the stoppage.

Having absolutely nothing to do with anything that was said or happened after the fight, these guys showed that they are true warriors, and frankly, it surprises the **** outta me to see that it hasn't been getting recognition for what it was.. By far, the best fight of 2012 up to this point.

Go rewatch it immediately.

Ok when was Lopez scared? You gotta give props where they are due. He was getting hurt by shots but he was not scared. Dude actually started coming forward more later on. He basically went for broke. He could have pulled a Broner and ran after he felt power but he didnt.
