Whos proclaiming he is going to be a champion? not any of the real irish people from ireland think hes any good. maybe the stupid irish yanks whos grandfathers come from ireland thinks he is good (the ones who buy the tickets to his fights)but i can assure you nobody in ireland thinks he is world class.(the man is likeable although)

Duddy is ok for what he is. He is limited and will only goi so far but who are we to complain about a man earning a living?

Duddy would probably get in the ring with anyone which is fair do to him but his team know that ain't the way forward and they won't get much money or mileage out of him.

As previous people said he is marketable to the Irish and has the charm to go with it. Let him get on with it. Not going to upset us and we know his limitations.

He would beat Chavez Jr though.

No, it could well be that hardcore element but there has been a fuss on this forum about him as well as in the press. There has been such talk of Duddy being the next Irish sensation, the next champion, the next this and that....

Looking at some of the comments in the Irish boxing thread make me also think that the hype isn't as isolated as you believe. I've seen talk of him beating Pavlik.

To be fair, none of this talk has come from you. Thinking back you have always been realistic of his potential.

Well, there were posters who picked him to beat Pavlik for a start.

i've seen a lot of talk about a potential fight with Pavlik in previous years but even in the days in which he looked like he good i don't remember anyone (except for some idiots on youtube) saying he could beat Pavlik

I dont get the hate for duddy? the man is just out to make a living and is very entertaining to watch. He doesnt walk around calling himself P4P no.1 or world class or anything of the sort and yet people love to hate on him and diss him at every chance they get, when the truth is he is more talented than anyone on this site.

Who was "proclaiming him as the next big thing"

As I remember it all his fans recognised Duddy for what he is from the beginning - a really nice guy, that is limited but goes out there and puts on exciting fights.

Whats not to like? I've never heard anyone say that he was going to be the next SRL!!!

It's the typical boring cliched line that comes out from guys that in reality have seen fúck all of his fights.

Has Duddy done better then other fighters with a similar level of talent? In my opinion yes, but that isnt because of hype. Is Duddy "overpopular"? yes, but "overhyped"? no!!

Duddy's fans and following have always been realistic about his talent and capabilities. But that is part of the reason that he is popular - because he puts it all out there and bashes away.

I think you need to figure out the difference between over popular and over hyped because I have never heard any fan hyping Duddy.

you really are a tosser BBB!!

If you had ever been to any of his fights you would see that the auditorium was packed with 1st generation Irish - not that that matters! You think it is acceptable to run down Irish Americans because they hold their Irish hertitage dear to them - that shows what an odious twat you are! You've obviously never spent more than five minutes out of Ireland in your short lives o spent any time with the people you slag off, you you had you would realise how disrespectful you are being.

You sound like a DUP or BNP member with the bollocks you come out with. Sure you were even saying that Paul McCloskey, Martin Rogan, Matthew Macklin and Eamonn Magee were British - you are a ****** and need to grow up!

He puts bums in seats so it's pretty easy to see why he's hyped up. Pavlik and Arum would be thrilled to get Duddy in the ring as it would most likely net them more money than a Lockett or Rubio. Duddy would take the fight at the drop of a hat aswel, although what state he'd be in afterwards is anyone's guess. I genuinely don't understand why someone as laid back and sincere as Duddy should get hated on.

So, there were people picking him then.

I have never proclaimed it was some mass movement of hardcore fanatics who have apparently seen something in Duddy that the rest of us haven't.

    I have theory - jealousy!!

More talented fighters are making less money than Duddy is.

What people forget it that talent in only one element (granted the main one) in successfully marketing a boxer!

Scroll through the numerous posts and threads if it concerns you so much. Again, did I say these people were offering themselves in record numbers?
