For the record, I have no beef with Duddy for grinding out a living, but what bothers me is the idea that he may get a shot at Pavlik. If you're going to be a famous club fighter, then be a famous club fighter.

But don't fight a series of no-hopers and then think you deserve a shot at the title. That's one of boxing's big problems.

Pavlik should be fighting Williams and Martinez, and then he may need to move up unless the division improves quickly.

For Duddy, it doesn't matter. I wish him well doing what he's doing and if he wants to step up, great. But there's a difference between stepping up to Sylvester and going all the way to a title shot. It's the shots that aren't earned on any sort of merit that are so damaging.
