A Duddy/Pavlik fight was in the cards in 2008, and you are correct about a number of posters picking Duddy to win. The New York Irish, and the Youngstown contingency would have filled MSG at the time, and the name familiarity of the two fighters would have made for great TV numbers. It was big money.

Arum was at ringside for Duddy/Smichet, and ready to make the fight. After the Smichet fight Arum was screaming, "This kid NEVER fights Kelly Pavlik. IT'S OFF!" There's video of that somewhere, but I'll be damned if I can find it.

 

I think the fight would have been quite popular if not one sided. There are a few articles out there about Arum not wanting to chuck Duddy in there straight away and after the Smichet fight I don't really blame him. Nice avatar by the way. It's a shame Taylor couldn't carry on in the Super 6. I thought he put up a brave and spirited display against Abraham. Taylor was an anomoly - he seemed to have no interest in boxing other than when he was fighting - the guy had talent.

 

But this happens all the time, especially in the heavyweight division.And look at some of the other middleweights who got a title shot - Gary Lockett, i would think Duddy puts up a better showing than him, Rubio, and Sturm faced a host of no names.I'm not saying Duddy deserves a sot but boxing being the business it is , dictates that he probably will face Pavlik in the near future if he has no more hiccups

You offered me the bet some 24 weeks before - or as the normal amongst us would deduce - the day after the first fight.

 

Pavlik is the only champion in the division. You know that. Anything else is paper.

And yes, I realize this type of thing happens all the time, but that doesn't make it OK. Like I said, I have nothing against Duddy personally or against his career -- I just don't want him getting wasted by the legitimate MW champ unless he earns his way into that position.

The guys said it was one thing stepping up to face Sylvester and another thing to fight for a world title - Sylvester HAS a world title!!!

 

Some of these kids dont have your extensive boxing knowledge slappy i wouldnt get upset over it.

 

A. You brought Sexton-Rogan into this not me.

B. I highlighted that I predicted Sexton would beat Rogan prior to the fight.

C. You said that I didnt because I offered you a cash bet that Rogan would beat Sexton.

D. I said that that offer was well before the fight and that when I heard about Rogans "secret injury" I switched the prediction from Rogan to Sexton.

E. Then you said "No, you asked me to make the bet a day or two after the first fight." - Forgive me if I am dumb but that is over a month before the second fight - which is what I said.

F. Then you prove what I was saying and are still talking bull!!!
