Bunce's a total ******. I though everyone already knew that and knew not to take anything he says seriously. He's just another biased Brit that only other Brits know about and he only gives credit to British fighters so obviously Chad wasn't gonna get props from this imbecil. It's OK Bunce's irrelevant in the world of boxing.

Not defending Bunces comments but the Manfredo fight had very little to do with Calzaghe.

 

A very good comparison imo. You think Calzaghe would have as much fans in America were other athletes are out shining him.

If Dawson was from Wales and was a light heavy champ coming off the win against Tarver im sure he would have a better following than he does in the US. He would be in the media more and the average casual fan would see him more and more in small countrys like the UK.

 

Actually, Bunce is a rising star in international boxing commentary and analysis. He is entertaining, funny, irreverent and has good boxing knowledge. If you doubt that check out his analysis of Alexander Povetkin. The man knows his stuff and sees Povetkin's potential, especially his ability to throw full power right and left hooks with the power and speed being generated right from the toes to the point of impact. People rush to see his latest analysis and hilarious but fact-based rants much the same as they did the immortal Howard Cossell back in the day. It is obvious to Bunce and any real historian of the sport that Joe was a special prize-fighter that in no way should be compared with someone with the pedestrian skills of a Chad Dawson. Joe is a generational boxer who will be remembered throught the ages. If you don't believe me just ask the immortal American man of war, Marvelous Marvin Hagler. He has been singing Joe's praises since before Calzaghe's demolition of Lacy.

Well Calzaghe was a big draw...I hear HBO is still having a money bath with how well they did off of Calzaghe vs RJJ.

Not only that but they made a house out of all the dollar bills they picked up off of how successful Calz vs Hopkins was.

 

I wouldn't drag Calzaghe into it, it's just Bunce acting stupid there. Calzaghe is retired and I seriously doubt he would talk down on Dawson if interviewed, maybe he would about Carl Froch because Froch is disrespectful but doubt he would about Dawson, especially when he's retired.

 

I like this Bunce character. He speaks his mind. Wish we got a Boxing show in the States like this even if it was just 30 min.

I did hear Setanta Sports is in some type of financial trouble so he might be out of a job soon.

 

TBH I think Bunce means in a financial way for Calzaghe. Bunce talks about fights like a promoter if you haven't seen him before. I think he means Dawson is a big risk little reward fight for him too take.

 

Bunce gets more irritating as time goes by.
