I have to agree with all of this, I received word of exactly this 2 weeks ago after hearing rumours the week before. the fella that told me was bang on the money and his source came from the Vazquez camp.
ESB should introduce an off topic part of the forum so it's members can discuss Springsteen's political allegiances and catholicism and Obama's place in the socialist spectrum! Weirdly all those subjects are interlinked slightly as a lot of Springsteen's early music was supposed to be a kind of defiance against his Catholic upbringing although he still considers himself a catholic somehow (complicated people) and although his biggest his written as an anti government Vietnam protest it was adopted by the even more confused republicans as a kind of patriotic mantra so a lot of people associated him with the right for a while. As for Obama, he's still a puppet at the end of the day, he can only do so much within the confines of the American voting public, he tried the health care bill and they didn't want it. They don't want any kind of socialist mantra in their country they want pure capitalism, we make our own luck, if you want something go out and earn the money for it, survival of the fittest, sink or swim, the dollar bill is all. It's a country that fully celebrates elitism and enjoys it with no embarrassment, at least over here we're a bit sheepish about it and everyone pretends it's a bit wrong and not to support it whilst voting Tory. Anyway back on topic to Vazquez, I don't really care any more what happened. All I know is they sold tickets for a fight that was in the balance, that's out of order and it's no wonder it has collapsed so spectacularly. I don't see it happening in April either I think it's gone now.
Steve Bunce ‏@bigdaddybunce Just been told that one of the best boxing websites in UK has a thread giving me stick and it has had over 8,500 views! Madness, thank you! Hahah
Anyone read the Northampton Chronicle? http://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/n...er-swear-word-attack-on-northampton-1-4846785 And why is he making a generalisation on twitter that everyone in this thread is bashing him?
The thing is with Bunce, he came on here and was very embracing of the forum worlds role in boxing and supporting it then cried off when he faced a bit of criticism (admittedly it may have gone too far but he should be able to take it). Now he's developed this "me vs the internet" type of philosophy, he's a boxing pundit, not everyone will like him and he WILL get some stick he is public property and not immune from criticism. The same as Larry Merchant gets stick, or Gary Neville or Redknapp or any other sports commentator. No need to play up the self importance of this, if he doesn't take "keyboard warriors" seriously then just stop mentioning them all the time. Personally I think Bunce LOVES the attention he gets and he knows that he is probably more talked about for being annoying to a lot of people than he is for being a serious journalist or creating a thought provoking show, and he's playing the game.
He plays up to it, is he a knowledgeable person? Yes, is he a nice person? Probably, does he chat rubbish and become bias to people who are above him? Yes
he told me that he had saw the contracts for the Burns-Vazquez fight. I asked him if Vazquez had signed and/or agreed to the terms that Vazquez was offered. NO RESPONSE!!
It's sad to see mate, I was a massive massive fan of his, it was him on Setanta that got me back into boxing after I fell out of love with it for a few years, then I used to listen to his Thursday night show religiously and it was class, pissed all over ringside. When the Bunce hour first came back to our screens I was excited as anyone and pleased for him, you can imagine how gutted I felt when it turns out it was just a show to plug Uncle Franks fighters and be a mouthpiece for whatever agenda Frank had that particular week.
