The whole fighters not being paid thing. I haven't seen one fighter come out publicly and state definitively that they haven't been paid. The only stuff we get on here is a friend of a friend has heard nonsense
Kevin Mitchell has said he hasn't been paid. He's been grumbling on about it for a while. Bellew said the same when he was still with Frank. Apparently it's the reason Groves has walked away now as well too. BoxNation is struggling to and Frank is losing money a lot faster than he's bringing it on.
Hearn said: "Adam called me at the end of last week and said: 'We've severed our agreement with Frank ******, what do you think?' I went straight ahead and had a meeting with him and we agreed it in half an hour. "Once I get confirmation from a fighter and his legal team they they've terminated their agreement and are free agents ... nothing to do with me, an issue between the two [of them] ... I will talk with them. One thing I'll always do, especially at this point, is cover my back, make sure we don't slip up anywhere or give anyone an excuse to get litigious with us. It's the first thing we do." Hearn said his agreement with Groves is for three fights and that Booth would decide whom he wants his fighter to fight. "Anyone we deal with, three fights is what we do. I never strap people into three- or five-year deals. Speak to any one of our fighters: no one has ever left. Yet. I don't think they've got any reason to. Everyone gets plenty of exposure, everyone gets plenty of fights, everyone gets paid on time. "I don't want to give anyone the opportunity at this stage, the way things are going, to put myself in an awkward position. I don't have to slag anyone off. I don't have to slag ****** off, or any other promoter. If the fighters want to leave a certain promoter and join us, I'm over the moon. It doesn't matter why a fighter would choose to leave a certain promoter. But I'm going to make certain we get the best ones."
Is there some kind of number I can call to make a donation? Frank's little appeal on the Bunce mini-telethon really touched me. That poor man. Someone give that man a sainthood.
If Kevin Mitchell hasn't been paid why hasn't he started a legal action, surely it would be an easy thing to prove.
Because as dftaylor loves to tell us FW is a ****ing mercenary when it comes to court battles. I'm sure going to court is his avourite thing in the world to do, now matter what the case is. He just loves it and tries to drag cases out for as long as possible. By the time Kevin probably won the case he'd have spent so much on legal fees he'd been even more out of pocket. The best thing for him to do is to just run the clock down until he can get out of his contract whilst hoping one day his money does arrive.
Tony Bellew, Stephen Smith, Frankie Gavin, Kevin Mitchell, Callum Johnson have all publicly stated that they have not been paid on time for fights. So you think the stories about fighters not being paid are false?
Dwyer called them Matchbook earlier. Experience counts, Frank has been in the game for what, 25-30 years? Eddie has only been in it 2-3 years. IMO I think they are trying to get a war started, keep your friends close and all that. Hearn was giving Bunce **** earlier for something that happened on social zombiedia. Frank was laying into a column in the Guardian. We are gonna have some massive shocks! Carl Froch turning up at VVarren HQ, photographs taken of Hearn and Vince Cleverly feeding the ducks and holding hands. The battle will be won by who signs the MVP first. Tyson Fury.
No surprise that Buncey made no mention of MV's antics the other week mate. I wonder which forum "apologised":think
I would love to see definitive sources for those fighters, not rumour and innuendo. Not being paid on time isn't quite the same as not being paid at all. I have no idea if the stories are true or false, and neither do you to be fair, thats why I've responded to your post in the way that I have. Its all conjecture, which is pretty much the definition of made up.
Here's one: http://m.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/mar/16/joe-calzaghe-frank-****** From that article: Joe Calzaghe has today won his legal dispute with his former manager Frank ******. Mr Justice Wyn Williams dismissed ******'s claim for £1m from the fighter and ruled at the High Court that he should instead pay Calzaghe around £2m in unpaid fees. The judge made it clear, however, that he had to treat both sides of the case with "caution". After retiring as undefeated world super-middleweight champion this year, Calzaghe took on his former manager and promoter at the High Court. ****** brought in the heavyweight barrister Ronald Thwaites QC to argue that not only did he not owe the boxer but Calzaghe owed him £1m for breaking his contract over his last fight. Calzaghe denied there was a verbal contract to continue boxing for ****** and counterclaimed that he was owed more than £2m in fees for his Bernard Hopkins win last year. Seems Frank is on legitimate record for failing to pay up.
And Calzaghe did the right thing by fighting for what was his. A rumour only becomes fact when a Mr Justice Williams type figure says that thats the case. Reporting rumour as fact is exactly the type of thing that will get this place shut down
