Oliver never fought at the highest level

and in his pundit work he always seems to be overruled and spoken down to by Bazza Mugauian.

He is a pundit with knowledge on the game - but he is not a obvious one to be a expert on Cottos future

Oliver was Euro champ before he was injured, thats pretty close.....Who would you want Setanta to get to comment on Cottos future? Cotto? Bob Arum? Be realistic, Oliver gave an opinion thats all, feel free to disagree but don't question his right to give it.

I agree, there have been plenty of fighters who I would say were not as good as Cotto have taken worse beatings than that and still returned in good fashion

Oliver fell short of World Class - he was knocked out fair and square at European level when he suffered that career ending brain clot.

Oliver was targeting Prince Naseem Hamed at the time - he would have been out of his depth.

I feel there is a big gulf between European Champion and sharing the ring with the likes of Hamed and Barrera and Morales.

Of course Oliver has a right to a opinon - so do I - so does everyone.

But I just feel he lacks the authroity of other pundits like Barry McGuain and even Steve Bunce.

I agree the jury is out but that sort of loss HAS taken the edge of boxers in the past, it doesn't really matter if the fighters were better or worse than Cotto. Its whether they can get back to the level they were at before the beating.

Euro champ is still a very good level. I don't want to split hairs but in your first post you questioned who he was to give an opinion on Cotto rather than the content of the opinion. He'd have lost to the 3 guys you mention but thats really not the point, if you don't agree with that opinion then fair enough, but lets hear you thoughts eh?

Israel Vasquez suffered a defeat in his first Marquez fight with a bloody nose which affected his breathing and he took some severe shots in the process and was forced to quit but we all know what happened on his return.

Thats fair enough, I agree he's not the best on TV by a long shot but I think the Bunces Boxing Hour show is just a 'shooting the breeze' type thing, have a few people on and see what they have to say and go from there.

Good show about time people seen the quality of womens amateur boxing Nicola Adama looked quality sparring as did Katie Taylor.
loved amirs reason for not fighting John Murray on sept 6th
"i seen john and he was nowhere near the weight and i think it will take him along time to get down to the weight , but what a great fight it would be both from greater manchester and what a great fight it would be , i would love to fight him if not this fight then maybe in the near near future"
Has Murray been offered the fight ?
Also one session with cuban george and he confirms that he is a better coach then all his past coaches ! Bet that has not gone down to well with Golden Dean . Could anyone make out what george said ?

Cotto will be back think took his eye of the ball and believed a bit of the hype as he was the next best thing.
But typical British boxing view of things lose once kick to the kerb in America it was one bad day at the office lets try again,
Jesus god help Barrera Gatti Margarito who lost early in the carrers if they were boxing in Britian.

Cotto didn't take his eye off the ball, he was just beaten by a fighter with a very bad style for him. He'll never beat Margo, he couldn't keep up his gameplan for 6 rounds let alone 12.
