Just a stab in the dark. But i wonder how much it would cost to set up a dedicated boxing channel.?
Im pretty sure it would not be a great amount to secure the rights to screen old boxing matches (nuts did it) and there could be a PPV on the live fights.
There is no competion and im sure there is a market for it.
You only have to see some of the cack that is on digital at the moment to see that it can be done.
**** Bunce for sky or whatever give the man his own show.

what would they show on the boxing channel????

obviously boxing, but do you realise how much it costs to either

    a) buy the rights to a live card
    b) produce a live or recorded boxing show

all these channels make cheap ass TV, boxing is expensive and big business. Lets get real a boxing channel will never happen unless ESPN or Sky start it, and they wont.

There was the fight network a couple of months ago, and its gone.

I am shocked Top Rank , Golden Boy and Showtime havn't tried to break into the market and offer there fights in UK yet to the fight fans. Sky take there bit of the pie imagine paying £25 a month for PPVs from the US no need for Sky just those making there money for themselfs.

all they have to do is make it subscription tv like Arsenal tv or Chelsea tv etc.
Buying the rights to show old boxing fights would not break the bank.
and when there is a live fight on you bang it out on PPV.
We get all the old classics as well as the live fights and buces boxing hour.
It does not have to be a 24hr channel.
And being on digital it is available to everyone. Bigger market = more money.
Setanta killed themselves by pumping too much in to football and having nothing else to entice peope to cross over.
I would bet that the budget they had for boxing was not even 5% of what they laid out on football.
A dedicated boxing channel is very sustainable if managed propperly.
If they struck a deal with HBO where they give thaem a persentage of PPV income to show the big fights over here i bet HBO would welcome the income and we get the fights that we have never been able to see.
Unless you want to watch a stream which you have to pay for anyway.
