    Are you being serious?

He deserves every bit of criticism that comes his way now. For two long years, you don't:

    • Personally insult two established HW champs
    • Pull out of fights with each of those champs.
    • Continuously disparage all of their previous opponents.
    • Give the paying public a farce of a fight (Audley Harrison).
    To then finally:

    • Fail miserably in mounting even a remote threat to one of them once in the ring.
    • Perform no better, and even worse, than all the other fighters you were previously bashing.
    • Fail to give respect to the winner, choosing instead to pin the blame on your toe.
And not expect this sort of criticism.

totally correct mate, totally , we all know now Haye is a bum with no bottle and basically just a complete wanker, who has ripped off everyone selling this fight he had no intentions of trying to go for the win,

the truth is i think Buncey knows it too, i mean it is not Steves fault about it, and he is not going to come on here to slag him off, and we should not expect it,

but deep down i am sure Buncey has lost all respect for Haye, who could have any for this shitbag Haye

Well, Haye never gave any of those 50+ men who stepped in with Klitschko any respect whatsoever.
He told the whole world they were bums.

    I never took it seriously.
I never rated Haye and I expected him to be outclassed.

But obviously the people who honestly favoured Haye to win or bought the fight because they expected a competitive fight were buying into the hype.

Haye actually marketed himself on the strength of the idea that he wasn't a "bum" or a "fat guy" or "a guy with an injury" - he was a ferocious primed athlete who would bring violent excitement, remember - and that's why he made all those millions the other night.

In other areas of business, he'd be jailed for trading on false claims.

He deserves a fair bit of critcism.

Yeah, it's all fun and games though. It's like a pantomime. Before the fight Haye was directing the pantomime, now he's just a player.

    Note to aspiring boxers :
Act humble and down-to-earth and people will probably warm to you.
Act like an arrogant offensive twat and people will ridicule you when you lose.
    It's not rocket science.

    Fair enough.

a lot of truth in these last 3 paragraphs - how the hell do you try and convince anyone after that about how good a fight murray-mitchell or fury-chisora might be? haye always struck me as a half intelligent, personable man who showed boxing in a good light. but by christ did he do himself a disservice with his distateful pre fight antics. what's worse for him is that he's made himself look completely foolish and has gone down massively in people's estimation of him.in doing so he's also done boxing harm because who, out of the thousands who were watching in the packed pubs, will be inspired or interested to watch again? i know the casuals are apain in the arse, but those are the people you need to keep interested and motivated to buy the packages, and buy the tickets and saturday ain't gonna do that

Many of them act humble. Or modest. Or at least they don't act like complete arrogant twats. It doesn't hurt to have manners and a bit of class. And if you're going to make bold boast - make sure you back them up, or are at least qualified to attempt them.

Joe Louis, Joe Frazier, Evander Holyfield, etc.
No one rejoiced in them losing or had any reason to call them up on past statements because they didn't make complete dicks of themselves. They fought hard too, so any boasting they might have done was backed up in the ring.
Even Tyson in his prime, Lewis, and of course the Klitschkos (truly superior fighters) were not as brash and arrogant as Haye has been.

Ali was full of it from day one, but he backed up his words over the years.
