I wouldn't say he was perfect against Adamek, I think he looked a little too cautious at times for some reason. I think he should have finished the fight sooner.

Wasn't Haye the 3rd best HW on the planet before the Wlad fight?

So let me get this straight.

    Really old golota
    Estrada
    250 lb Arreola
    Grant
    Maddalone
    McBride

That's the record of the 3rd best heavyweight on the planet?

I'd say there's 1 win there that puts him in the top 10. Everyone else is gatekeeper AT BEST.

Don't get me wrong. Adamek is a ballsy ****er.

Unfortunately that seems to be how you get to #3 these days. Beat a few chumps and wait for everyone else to lose.

Adamek is not the only one doing it, and it's not really fair to single him out. Just makes me sick. If the top guys actually fought each other, they might actually be prepared for title shots. But they aren't they work the rankings for a payday, in which they are nothing more than lambs to the slaughter.

i love how they base a Haye win on the fact he lost 11 of 12 rounds to wlad, and the only fights of note he won were against 40 years has beens or a 40 year old never was

always a good idea to fight aa guy under 6 foot tall and a cruiserweight thats overweight in preperation for a 6' foot 8'' 250 opponent :rofl

so it surprised me that anyone was shocked out how bad briggs did or what he didnt do....

Why is is that boxing has pundits as poor as Bunce, and yet other sports all seem to have people who are genuinely knowledgeable about their sport.

Boxing surely must have the worst presenters/commentators of any sport. You could choose almost anyone out of the population and they would have a better understanding of boxing than Bunce does. He really is a complete moron!

He could have a change. His speed will definetly give Vitali a problems as it did to Wlad.

Hayemaker should make this fight happen.

Its his road to Wlad rematch.

It would have been tough to rank him lower than 3rd if you moved Haye down at least one spot after the Wlad fight (I didn't, incidentally). While Povetkin is probably better than Adamek he has been fighting nobodies for a while now and turned down his chances with Wlad which has to lower him in the rankings. Chagaev was a good fighter but way too inactive to be kept ahead of Adamek. Chambers hasn't done anything significant since the Wlad fight. If he was third it's because the other fighters are either avoiding Wlad (Povetkin) or haven't bounced back from their loss to him.

In summary his high ranking was more a case of other fighters' inactivity, which is a shame I suppose. Of course, it helps that he has an impressive record in lower divisions

Heavyweights move up and down. Adamek was the 3rd best heavyweight going into the Vitali fight, now it's Povetkin.

I don't think he was cautious. I do think he was rather worried that the fight would end too soon like the Solis debacle and leave the fans disappointed. This is based on the way he let Adamek off in the second round.

Problem is that apart from the brothers nobody in the top 10 (including Haye) has a record that is any better than Adamek. So yes, that did put him 3rd, though that number has little meaning. He beat Arreola, who is a top 10 guy - that's the only victory of note on that record.. The top 10 should be fighting each other instead of all jockeying for an impossible title shot.
