Bunce phone in at 7 tonight

I actually quite like Bunce. He likes his boxing and talks like a proper fan.

I don't understand why Bunce gets more attention on these boards and divides opinion to such an extent that he's actually talked about more than our boxers.

 

While Bunce's technical knowledge of the sport is in question , I think he is good for the sport . He clearly loves it very much and while he can be extreme his passion is something which could definitely get the average man on the street interested .

Bunce knows what he is , during the recent build up to Pavlik v Lockett he said something like 'analysts looking at this fight , guys who know what they're talking about , I mean guys who really know what they're talking about' , that last sentence was said in a way in which he doesn't include himself as a guy who really knows what he's talking about(as far as the technical in the ring , art side of boxing goes) .

but what he does know about boxing is how to get people interested , and it's not that hard . Sky have been doing it with Premiership football for years , sensationalise everything . Sky's 'best league/most exciting league in the world' wasn't true till recently(hell the second bit probably still isn't) but they screamed it often enough and loud enough that people heard them and believed it .

Bunce sensationalises boxing(well infact everything he talks about) , and despite doing things that might annoy the hardcore fan what he does/says interests the general public , and the general public are needed to make big fights huge , fights and big stars , huge stars .

The likes of Richie Woodhall can tell us the little intricate things a boxer should be doing in a ring . Bunce can keep shouting things that spout up interest .


In the past I didn't like Bunce , but when you see he clearly has a lot of passion for this sport and that believe it or not what he does benefits it ,
then he doesn't seem quite as bad . Infact you can almost grow to like the chap .

Abraham is a solid fighter who for sure has a chance against Kelly.

 

He's a journalist.

He has access to big names in his field, is well immersed in it, tries his best to promote it, has genuine enthusiasm and love for it... and technically he isn't a total ignoramus. But is aware he isn't an authority on the finer technical points.

For a journalist that's pretty good going IMO

 

I think he's alright provided he doesn't go OTT. He does a good job of explaining things before he gets them out, instead of just saying the WBO mandatory Lockett, he'll go onto explain what a mandatory is for everyone who doesn't know.

What a waste of time, 2 questions, and one of them was someone just droning on about some fighters nobody has heard of. Claridge did my head in constantly butting in.

 

Well I've been out for a pint....

But this clown looked like that Gok Wan bloke off BBC3, he really didn't have a clue about boxing. I'm no fan of Bunce but he had to carry the entire hour of programming on his own.

 

I didn't see the show, I was watching the GP then the football. Was it any good besides this crap anchor man?

 

I don't know if it was just me, but for the last 1/4 hour or so there was an echo in the Setanta studio.
