Bunce was lying?

So promoters should be the sole means of promoting fights and their fighters? I guess there's no need for Boxing News, Boxing Monthly, Bunceys show, boxing sites, newspaper reports etc. etc. then.

And if you hadn't realised, at this very time Bunce's show is the only boxing show on TV or radio - the sport needs all the promotion it can get, otherwise it will continue to lose interest and continue to become more and more of a minority sport in this country.

Bunce is promoting British fighters for the sake of British boxing.

 

Didn't all this start from Rob emailing in to Bunce to ask him to ask Booth if there was 50-50? Bunce told the answer on the Radio show and then Rob made numerous threads on the GF stating that 'Bunce confirmed to him it wasn't 50-50'?

 

I've just heard that the Dan piece that Palmer and UTAH Boy are banging on about was published on Thurs 8th July. That is a great, strong piece with facts and definite figures. I talked about the 50-50 on either Thur 17th or 24th June.
I'm waiting for Dan's original piece saying that Haye and Booth had rejected a 50-50 offer from the Klits. This, according to UTAH Boy, needs to be published sometime between May 23rd -June 2nd.
After the Kosaros post at #156 there should be very little further dialogue...but, I reckon there will be...Bunce is a liar...he loves British boxers...he tells lies...he only loves British boxers...he was not telling the truth...he is biased and loves British boxing...(can you see the pattern?).

And that's my point, why is a journalist promoting fighters? Shouldn't a journalist's only job be reporting the facts. How are we supposed to take anything Bunce says seriously if we don't know which hat he is wearing, journalist or promoter?

In a lot of cases yes it is. didn't Haye and Booth use the Klitschko's name shamelessly for publicity, promising that Haye was going to fight them both? That was clearly a lie. I'm not saying Bunce was lying about the 50-50 deal, I believe that he reported that in good faith but my point is, a good journalist never has an agenda, as Bunce's job includes promoting British fighters he is not without bias. Understand?

 

I understand what you're trying to get at, but Bunce promotes Brit fighters with facts (or info that is provided to him by viable sources) and doesn't use lies to do it. Some people may feel his opinion is biased, but that's his opinion not something that is the truth or a lie. And when 90% of the fights he is 'promoting' features just British fighters, it's hard to see how there is any problem of him promoting them predominantly.

I hope we can agree on this, because I really don't want to continue posting on this terrible thread.

You did indeed claim that he didn't clean out the cw division.
However you also explicitly stated that he ducked Adamek. Don't try to backtrack. You're not the only one who can go dredge up quotes from the archives.

 

He won two of the three main titles in the backyard of a formidable opponent, then defeated his biggest domestic rival at the o2 in defence of his titles.

I'd hardly say not fighting Cunningham - who has always been an inactive King fighter - or Adamek who hadn't established himself at cruiser can be held against him.

Just drop the agenda, for **** sake.
