    # Correct and about another 300 hundred fights.
The difference is that neither Arthur or Gomez had arrived from a network where as many as 6 million viewers had watched them fight. If SKY's gamble pays off and millions of Khan fans sign up then they will not care what anybody says or writes or broadcasts. It's not right - it's just a fact and please don't imagine for one second that I like it.

    Adios.

Totally agree - I suppose you could compare Sky to a football club. They will continue to charge what they want while ever people are willing to pay for it.

As a Leeds fan I know :deal

The bottom line is that whilst Khan has fought a fairly average level of comp (Gomez and Limond excepted) he has shown vulnerabilities which make his fights exciting - lets not forget he was on the brink against Limond (and got a favour from the ref IMO). If he was schooling people left right and centre ala Lennox Lewis the casual fan would get fed up and want more.

You're missing the point Buncey. You don't HAVE to advise people to buy the PPV do you? You can say "no comment" and leave the general public make up their own mind.

You won't help the situation by ADVISING PEOPLE TO PAY FOR THIS CRAP. If they charge and people are not willing to pay for it, then they will think twice about pulling the **** again.

Steve, As always very pleased you post on here. Its a real boost to the forum to have access to someone who is so high up in the boxing food chain...

However you really seem to have done yourself no favours with those who suggest your a sports network mouth piece, by your action of 'recommending the purchase of Khan Vs Prescott and then posting that your statement was based on you enhancing/sustaining your personal favourability with Khan and Warren.

Terry Dooley hit the nail on the head in his article for Britishboxing.net, fair enough he perhaps doesn't have as much at stake making a bold statement as you would but no one is ever going to argue that he is in a promoter or fighters pocket.

Your one hour show really loses any significance if you aren't going to debate key issues that are currently affecting the sport, and this ridiculous situation with the next Khan fight is perhaps as infuriating an issue as I can remember in recent years.

If you had gone on the show and told the truth, that it is exploitation of the highest order then no 'true' boxing fan would have had an argument against you in fact I think you would have been applauded for it. These are the same 'true' fans that you are trying to entice to your program.

This fight along with the recent Hatton match has been a clear display of disregard and temerity by Sky, the fighter and the promoter. I'm as big a Hatton fan as anyone on here but I simply refused to pay for it because it was unworthy of being a Box Office attraction. I still haven't seen the fight, the first Hatton fight i've missed since he stopped Kid McCauley in the first round.

    These are the facts:

Prescott is completely unknown by the general public and 90% of the boxing communty.

His record on close inspection is unimpressive and made up of KO victories over novices.

In his one fight which was televised he looks hittable, slow and like he could barely crack the top 15 lightweights in the UK.

Arthur-Cook is not PPV. A Good match up but some would debate its anything above European class.

The rest of the undercard is a typical SN borefest.

I have no problems paying for a world class match up, but this is nowhere near that and represents little more then another nail in boxings coffin.

First domestic boxing becomes less competitive and more about the '0', then it leaves terrestrial TV, then we have to pay for world class fights involving British fighters, then they stop showing important world class matches for free, then they stop showing important domestic fights, now they want to charge for domestic matches..... can anyone else see where this is going?

    Adios

Terry Dooley at britishboxing.net...Good luck to Terry. Well done. I hope the advertisers are knocking the door down to pay good money and get on britishboxing.net knowing that such a fierce pal of the average fan is there battling for them. That's brilliant.
However, I have to live in the real world and making sure that I'm not banned and sued and ignored by promoters and managers is part of it.
"Personal favourablity" with Khan and Warren - where did I say that? I just need access because without access I would not have the radio, the TV and the papers and I would be left with the hundreds of wanna be boxing writers on the ...internet.
Please send me Mr.Dooley's articles from the national press when SKY first announced p-p-v and one journalist - just one journalist - had a back page special attacking the money masters at SKY for asking fans to pay and pay and pay. Do I need to tell you who that journo was?
I apologise if I don't reach your high standards.
    Adios.

If you took them to task then, why can't you now? Bruno/Tyson 2 was a Sports Network promotion. Anyway don't take my post the wrong way, I'm not having a go at you.... I've already spoken about your articles and improving presentation skills. I just feel it was a missed oppertunity. You should allow calls regarding the PPV aspect of the show next week and let us do the dirty work.

If we allow callers then we will end up in court. The show has a legal problem with Frank Warren as it is according to the Independent on Sunday. I can't let people come on and call it a disgrace. Come on ...be sensible.
I've had a good look through the Sunday papers and I'm yet to find a critical voice. Perhaps Barry McGuigan will serve the people when he writes in the Daily Mirror later this week.
    Speak soon.

Whilst I sympathise with your sentiments I cannot help thinking that this is a missed opportunity. I know little about the legal aspects of what can and can’t be said about a blatant attempt to rip of loyal and knowledgeable fans, I think you can state your opinion in a manner that Frank has **** all to say.

Setanta and yourself can survive without Warren so I cannot understand people treading on egg shells in the presence of such a monumental **** (Warren). I agree that having a live call in will be a bad idea, but again, I think you have missed the point somewhat.

You DID NOT HAVE TO ADVISE PEOPLE TO BUY THIS EVENT. It’s just that simple. You COULD have said “no comment” when asked about the PPV if you were THAT worried about Warren chucking his ****ing toys out of the pram.

Why is it left up to Barry to write a scathing article?

Take a look at the end of this preview. Whilst I don't expect this from you, I also don't expect you to sell out and kiss Warren's ass.

Wow that was awesome..... Buncey, watch and learn how to win respect..... Wonder if they were bothered about access to Holyfield, Don King and the governing bodies?
