Is there ANYBODY that actually likes Warren? I know people that don't even watch boxing and know he's a knob. I, for one think he's a disgrace to the sport. Ok he got Hatton 1 big fight, Ok he got Calzaghe 1 big fight. Anything else, err no. For sure there can be ONE show where things can be discussed and noone gets sued. I can't see Warren gaing much benefit from suing someone if you tell people you DISAGREE with the PPV, which is true. A discussion should be based around opinions. Suing for stating WRONG facts is true, Suing for stating OPINIONS is absolutley ludicrous. Bunce, don't be like the rest of the crowd, under Warren's wing. A PPV for a guy who's 18-0 against an unknown is absolutely disgusting, whether Arthur-Cook is on the card don't matter, thats a domestic fight at best, albeit a good one. I don't know one single person thats going to buy the PPV. Noone I know has even mentioned that Khans fighting, let alone pay £15 for a fight that will probably last under 3 rounds.
If it wasn't Warren it would be someone else. Going back we've had Duff, Jarvis, Astair, Soloman. The problem is that British boxing as small enough to be run as an effective monopoly, they'll always be a "Frank Warren".
I think so, its just that Warren has more wriggle room with all the sanctioning bodies these days. They are all sharks, if it wasn't Warren it would just be someone else.
Sucking the Devil's pecker by recommending his PPV despite that it does not warrant the £15 price tag, is perhaps the biggest grovelling snivelling joke I have ever witnessed. £15 my be 10 minutes work for you Mr Bunce, but the lion's share of the boxing community lives on a working class wage. In an era where we already have to pay for the sports channel itself, to then be expected to pay for a fight which may last only 1 round stinks of cretinous arse licking. Sure you may be offended by my words - but believe me, your not more offended that we are (the hardcore fan) when we see arguably one of our own in yourself, sit there on TV and recommend we all purchase it - just because you 'might get your free ticket' revoked if you don't plug it ! You may even speak about how your the only journalist to comment in your upper class rag about how 'it may not be quite worth the money' - but quite frankly you can keep that excuse. And then to come on here and say "Sorry guys, i don't really rate it whatsoever but im so terrified of actually speaking my mind on the matter" makes it even worse and only confirms what we all think. This is England 2008 mate and not communist China in 1989 you know. We are allowed to speak our minds in a non-libellous way you know. And also by mocking Terry Dooley you mock us all. If 'working for the internet' is a massive step down from your setanta contract then your more daft than i ever thought. Because Buncey, let me enlighten you on something, the boxing community is electric with light speed news on the scene. Within moments the online boxing community knows about any important news. This place, the internet, is where boxing now resides. Setanta is simply another medium for us to get our fix. Unbeknown to you probably, is that the modern technology available to us online enables us to watch fights you perhaps have never heard existed. We'll still all be here when setanta has long been sold out to Sky and we'll still be here after the next fly by night satellite station has come and gone too. "Adios"
Very good.:good If he didnt frequently play the 'lone maverick battling against the system' act,it wouldnt be as bad,but the 'Dirty Harry of boxing' **** that he's played for years makes this cowtowing to Warren even worse.
I wonder how many people on here are so outspoken in their own careers. Its pretty easy to criticise on the net but the reality is no one here really has anything to lose by speaking up against this PPV whereas it could make a big difference to Bunce's income someday. Oh, and just for the record I think that charging £15 for these particular fights is a disgrace. :good
Actualy, I am, and I always have been. If somethings not right, then I say so. Yes, it has cost me dearly over the years, but that's the way it is. I'm not suggesting Steve Bunce openly critisises FW and the PPV thing on air, but actively plugging it was a step too far. It gives the impression that his strings are being pulled, and it seems to have dented his reputation as a pundit......
Outspoken about their careers ?? Bunce's job is to be outspoken and comment on the sport of Boxing.. Being outspoken IS HIS LIVING ! And now his 'i don't shirk telling how it is' reputation is now in ruin in my eyes. If he added a wink to the end or if it was a show on setanta that he had to plug, then maybe i could see that angle too. But the bottom line is, this pile of crud, the most dire PPV in Britain's PPV history is NOT on Setanta and therefore why did he recommened us all buying it ? he is not a kirby vacuum cleaner salesperson is he? selling it to us? No he did it to curry favour with the biggest snake in our sport.
